The contact owned a 2008 Lexus IS350. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 mph, the steering wheel began to turn to the left independently and crashed into a parked vehicle. The contact-??s vehicle rolled over and landed on its roof before stopping. None of the air bags deploy upon impact. A bystander assisted the contact to exit the vehicle by breaking the front passenger side window with his foot. The contact was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The contact sustained bruising on her face and body. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the insurance company lot and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Prior to the failure, the vehicle was serviced for the air bags recall however, the dealer only replaced the passenger-??s side air bag inflator and used masking tape for the engine hoses. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000. Seat belt held the consumer upside down like a hammock. The black box did not say seat belt was in use. Prior to accident consumer was driving by construction site and heard loud screeching scraping under car. Car steering or linkage went out and car went to left. Consumer did not intentionally steer car left. Consumer was blamed for accident when car malfunctioned.

The wiring harness for the front passenger airbag was recalled by lexus because it is too short and frequently becomes disconnected which disables the front passenger airbag and cause the air bag light to turn on on the instrument panel. Lexus sent a letter informing me of the recall, but it was sent to my parents house and I did not receive it in time. After finding the recall letter, the pandemic also prevented me from making it to the dealership in time. The letter they sent me also had no markings to indicate it was a recall or that the information inside was important in any way so the letter was easily ignored. I spoke with a lexus dealership and lexus corporate and they both refused to perform the safety repair because I was about 2 to 3 months past their deadline (June 2020?). As a result, my front passenger air bag is inoperable and any front riding passenger in my vehicle is at a greatly increased safety risk in the event of a serious crash. Lexus admitted the problem with their wiring harness and instituted a recall, so I don't think it is fair for them to potentially sacrifice the lives and the safety of my front riding passengers because of a superficial deadline. I would appreciate any help you could provide in convincing lexus to honor their safety recall for my vehicle. Thank you.

There has been an intermittent airbag warning light on my vehicle. When taken to the dealer for service, unfortunately the light went out, and no code was captured. It was returned to the dealer recently, and a fault code was recognized; a possible knee airbag issue. When talking with the service writer, their technicians had mentioned it was most likely a short in a wiring harness at a cost of $3500 to replace. I was told all of the airbags may be inoperative with the warning light on, but the dealership was not sure. A number of online Lexus blogs talk about similar circumstances and struggling why a faulty (defective) wiring harness that disables all airbags is not a safety recall. It shouldn't have to be a fatal crash due to inoperative airbags to warrant a recall.

After hitting a hard bump, the vehicle threw a B1866 code indicating an open circuit on the front passenger knee airbag. The connector has become loose and after reading other complaints online it seems to happen frequently with this connector or on the driver side knee airbag connector.

Takata recall. After letting the Lexus dealership do the recall on my airbags, I received a airbag light shortly after and let them know I didn't have the issue until after they serviced the airbag. The issue is stated that they made the harness too short in my year car and Lexus is not taking responsibility for their error which is putting my life and my child's life in danger if we were to get in a accident with my car. The airbags are disabled due to this faulty harness. When contacting corporate they only offered to help with $500 of the cost while the dealership wants $3500 to fix. This is absolutely ridiculous. Why should I have to pay for a issue that Lexus knows was there mistake. This is a major safety concern and should be addressed immediately!

On November 8, 2017, I was involved in a traffic accident in santa monica, ca as I was making a left turn from an alley onto a two-lane residential street. The other vehicle struck me on the left front corner of my car. While the airbags of the other car were deployed, none of my airbags were deployed. Further, my shoulder belt failed to properly restrain me and the top of my head struck the left 'A-pillar'. soon after the accident, I requested that Lexus download my car's edr( aka "black box" ). the injury to the top of my head did not turn out to be serious. However, about 2-3 weeks following the accident, I started having pain in my lower right abdomen. This was soon thereafter diagnosed as a right side inguinal hernia. About this same time, I received a download of the raw data from my car's edr. I was able to compute that I experienced a 20 G force towards the left front corner of my vehicle. My conclusion is that my body was forced upwards and torqued to the left during the accident with a force equal to 20 times my body weight. I conclude that this caused the injury leading to the hernia. When I first contacted Lexus last November, I indicated that I believed there was a "safety gap" in my vehicle. While I accept that the air bags did not deploy, I strongly believe that the shoulder belt should have precluded my head hitting the "A-pillar' and the injury to my lower right abdomen. After much delay, I finally received a response from Toyota on February 8, 2018. In a brief, dismissive one-page letter, their response was that my car performed properly during the accident. In this letter, they failed to even mention the failure of my shoulder belt to properly restrain me. Based on earlier conversations via phone with Lexus, I had been expecting a report prepared by Lexus safety engineers. In conclusion, I will not purchase another Lexus vehicle.

Takata recall the local Lexus dealer and car maker, Lexus automobiles, are taking an unacceptably long time to remedy this life-threatening defect. This week I have received a letter from the car maker with a warning to not let anyone sit in the front passenger seat when the car Is being operated. This Is the second mailing I have received, and the problem Is described as more critical with each mailing. Since June of 2016 I have been on a waiting list with the local dealer to have the takata device replaced. This delay Is not a reasonable period to wait. Furthermore the local dealer, Lexus of thousand oaks, Is not diligent in assigning people to the recall repair waiting list. My wife called the dealer twice in early 2016 and was assured that our car was assigned. I visited the dealer in summer of 2016 and found that our car was not on the dealer recall repair list. So, only by visiting the dealer was I able to definitely be assigned to the list. Very poor oversight by the car maker of a critical issue being handled by the dealer. The car maker should step-up and create a waiting list website that schedules appointments at any local dealer that Is ready to repair. Some fair method of assigning priorities should be clearly publicized for all car owners affected. The car maker has to be more involved with this recall effort and take the main responsibility away from the dealer. Very, very disappointing to say the least.

I've contacted my dealership, freeman Lexus, numerous times since hearing about the takata recall in June of last year. 9 months later I am still awaiting repair. The first 5 times I called, I was told to call back and check in to see if the airbag replacement parts where in. The last time I was put on a list in order to receive a loaner car. 2 months later and still no repair or loaner. I have a 2008 Lexus Is which was purchased in September of 2007. I live in ca. Based on the projected degradation timeline of 6-9 years, September of 2016 put my at 9 years. I am not satisfied with Lexus lack of timely repair.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 Lexus Is 350. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V340000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Takata recall. We were told by Lexus 8 months ago not to allow anyone to drive in the passengers seat. Since we always ride together we can no longer use the car. It does not make sense that we bought a car this expensive we can no longer use.

Takata recall I am in zone B and my car Is approaching its ten year mark. I took my car in today and asked the sales assistant if there were any updates about the airbag recall and he told me, "no". what Is supposed to save me in an accident can now kill me. I am very disappointed in the amount of time this has taken and the response to consumer concern. Please put pressure on Toyota and takata to fix our airbags.

Takata recall: I was informed of the recall and contacted my dealer. The recall stated clearly that no one should ride in the passenger seat! this Is our only car and we are responsible for two grandchildren that have car seats. We now effectively have no mode of safe transportation. Lexus tells us nothing. I called to inquire about a loaner car and they said they did not have anything available. It appears that it may be a long time before the dealers have the replacement parts. I live in houston, Texas where the most severe weather has affected this part. I am hoping that your department can assist by asking the dealer to loan a car, move us to the top of the replacement list and/or offer a settlement to offset the loss we would have to take to sell the car. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Takata recall I would like to register a complaint about the length of time for me to be notified that my car is affected by this recall ( August 2016) and the fact that there is no time line for a fix. The recommended work around is to not have someone in the passengers seat. This is obviously a ridiculous option.
