About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
When driving warning lights came on vsc(vehicle stability control), traction control, check engine; warning text to take to dealer. The cruise control did not work and the performance of the motor declined, loss of power and excessive engine noise. When stationary upon inspection both high pressure fuel pumps that reside in the rear top of the valve covers showed signs of leaking gasoline and oil. The passenger side was so bad that the chance of igniting was imminent, as it leaked onto the exhaust below and came in contact with an O2 sensor directly below on the engine block, that has an electrical connector. My vehicle currently has 170K miles. At 85K miles the recall #10V30900 (valve springs) was performed. Upon investigation this recall was incomplete as it did not include a serviceable part gasket #2322438010 that should have been included in the "valve spring kit"#0400037338. This gasket is always replaced when the fuel pumps are removed. It resides in the valve cover under the removable fuel pump plate. All other serviceable gaskets in the fuel pump were included: 2 O-rings for mount bolts, 2 ring gaskets for fuel dampener, 1pump to plate gasket but not the plate to valve cover gadket. This is a known leaking problem for 2007-2008 LS460 (years included in the recall), most commonly seen as oil leaks at the valve cover but mine and others show degradation to where gas leaks from the pump to plate gasket as well. The possibility of a severely deteriated gasket at the valve cover #2322438010 has the possibility of pieces falling into the moveable parts area that were the reason for the recall. This non replaced gasket should have been replaced and it has created a fire hazard. I currently show dtc P0455, P0441, P0455, P0441. The P0012 vsc error has resolved recently after clearing the memory.

The contact owns a 2007 Lexus Ls 460. While attempting to accelerate from a stop sign, the vehicle lost power. The accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate and increase in rpms. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the spark plugs needed to be replaced, the engine control unit needed to be reprogrammed, and the fuel lines needed to be flushed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,000... updated 12/22/16

The car has a random delay problem when accelerating to pass a vehicle on the highway can cause a rear end collision that Lexus try to fix by changing the both engine heads completely but it didnot solve the problem entirely. After oil changes the car lags and delays due to valves not sitting correctly (valves are in the heads). Lexus is aware of this problem but has no resolution and do not see it as a safety issue. This is very scary and has been told to Lexus by a number of customers. It is all over online forums and it affects 2007-2009 Lexus LS460 (all trims) has 5 sec. Delay while trying to pass on occasions.

Parked vehicle, pressed start/stop button to turn off engine. Engine stopped. Exited the vehicle and as walking away pressed the lock button on the key fob. Came back from shopping and the engine was running and fob would not unlock the doors. Put new battery in fob... and still wouldn't work.used spare fob... it would not open door. I could not shut off engine. Called aaa they came out, took apart the handle and inserted the fob key to gain access and was able to shut off the engine. Lexus service said computer did not show any malfunction though 3 humans witnessed it.

My car is a 2007 LS460. I bought it new in Sep 07. It currently has 35,000 miles on it. On several different occasions during my ownership of this car, it has failed to accelerate, in response to the accelerator pedal, at low speeds. This performance issue only lasts a few hundred miles and then the car returns to perfect for an extended period. This can be very dangerous in certain situations. About 18 months ago, I made the correlation that this strange behavior occurs right after an oil change. Since that time I have paid special attention and there is no doubt in my mind that it is related to the oil change. Many other owners have reported this in internet car forums.
