Within the first 10-15 seconds of starting the car, perhaps about 5% of the time this summer, my Lexus LS460 would stagger through what felt like a transmission slip, as it would lose nearly all power for about 2-3 seconds. It could also happen (less frequently) coming off a stop (such as after sitting at a red light). It has never been dangerous, because I have not been in circumstances that would make it dangerous. It never happens at any other time. I've never even been honked at or in other ways caused problems with other drivers because the car recovers within those 2-3 seconds, so it hasn't created a traffic issue. Yet.
I've had this car for 11 years, so perhaps I should consider myself fortunate and move on to another car - except that it still drives well and I am pleased with it. No car of mine had ever lasted beyond 7.5 years, so I am enjoying all of this "bonus time" with the car.
