I have never had one issue with this car. Serviced every 5,000 miles at my local Lexus dealership. I have only ever used premium gas, 93 octane. I've faithfully done all required maintenance, tires and brakes. Ran like a dream even with over 100K. Driving home from work last week, suddenly my engine light came on, and a message appears that my AWD had a malfunction and 2WD engaged, VISIT DEALER. I attempted to drive to a safe spot and my car kept dropping to 0 RPM and back up again, barely made it to park. Had it towed to the dealer and they gave me the following:
Fuel Injector Replacement: VERIFIED CONCERN. FAULT PRESENT FOR CYL 1 AIR-FUEL RATIO INBALANCE. CHECKED SPARK PLUGS AND SPARK PLUGS ARE FOWLING OUT FROM FUEL.
RECOMMEND REPLACING BOTH PORT AND DIRECT INJECTORS (#1 MARK ON DIRECT INJECTORS) NEED BOTH SETS OF INJECTORS, INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS, COOLANT, EXHAUST GASKETS AND THROTTLE BODY GASKETS.
It's over $5,000 to fix and I am fixing it because I planned to drive it another 100K! They told me that they have only done 4 of these in the past few years and only 1 other NX that this is a rare problem to have.
I'm just shocked with the amount that this costs to repair. This is my second Lexus and I loved both cars but this has put a really bad taste in my mouth for this brand right now.
UPDATE 1/31/25: Repair was completed. Now I have a ticking noise coming from my engine. They are saying that I have Hydrolock caused by fuel getting into the piston and not operating properly. They believe the piston bent and is causing this noise. It is not quiet - very noticeable when the accelerator is depressed. I'm beside myself at this point. My car is a mess. Not sure what direction I will go at this point
