RX 300 3.0L 4wd

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

So the electric window started acting strange, would go down and very difficult to get back up.

Tried cleaning the contacts in the pcb, seemed to help for a while... but probably didn't in reality

Then tried reflowing the solder joints on the pcb where the connector pins meet the circuit board. 10 min job with a soldering iron (just heat the pin for a while till the solder melts and then take the soldering iron away, that pin is done, repeat for all the pins)

Some guy called briansmobile1 made a nice video on youtube about how to do it. just search on you tube:

I have never had an electric window malfunction on any car. Now with this low mileage Lexus, when you push the control to open the passenger side window, the window goes down, but will not come back up. All I get are quizzical looks from the mechanics. They don't know what's wrong, how long it will take to fix it or how much it will cost. Maybe Consumer Reports raves about Lexus being the best vehicle out there, but you'd better have deep pockets if you want to own one!
