I have a 2004 Lexus RX2004 the dashboard is really cracked up all over, noticed it a few years ago when my daughter called it to my attention while she had it in another state then a lady we met while shopping with the same RX330 told us that Lexus notified her and replaced her dashboard. I called and the told me they were waiting for more dashboards to come in and would notify me when they get more in, but never did, now when I contacted Lexus they told me my RX330 was in that free replacement, but the time has expired on replacing the dashboards without any notification. Love my RX330 but the badly cracked up dash just really leaves the inside looking very very awful, always gotten complements on how well it has held up except for( that dashboard).

We have complained to our dealer on several occasions. This is terrible. Looks disgusting and our vehicle has always been treated with the utmost loving care. We are embarrassed to drive our family and friends anywhere in this car. Has always been garaged and well maintained. Please help us find a solution to this problem!

Vehicle was always garage kept, used high quality windshield sun-shield when exposed or parked under the sun, also front windows were tinted, sun was definitely not the culprit of this problem.
Dash started to peel near the passenger airbag at 73,000 miles then around the key switch and in 2 months everything was flaking, and a dashboard rattle started as well, very, very annoying!
I dismounted the dashboard, peeled it completely and covered with a high quality vinyl and fixed the problem. In fact, the new vinyl was even better than the original one.
This is a very common issue with the RX 330 model (2004 to 2006) and also the Lexus GX from same years.

Frankly, I love my RX330! However, I am very upset that the dash broad has been a tremendous disappointment!
I have owned several cars, not to mention we also have a 1998 Toyota Celica and a 2005 Toyota Trunda. Never, ever have we experienced a sticky, melting, shiny, cracking dashboard until approximately 2 1/2 years ago with my Lexus Rx330. Prior to purchasing my Lexus Rx330, I owned a Toyota Cressida for ten years. Sold it in absolutely perfect condition inside and out. A few months back I purchased a dashboard cover because the dash is so bad. A luxury SUV should not have this problem.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

The dashboard starting cracking about a year ago and has gotten progressively worse. There's cracks across the entire dashboard.

I bought this car new in 2004 and after about 90,000 miles I noticed some small cracks in the dashboard above the glove compartment. I now have 175,000 miles on it and the dash is cracked all the way over to the far driver side with most of the cracks on the passenger side.It looks like a cracked hard boiled egg and is starting to peel. The fact that it is far past any warranty I didn't pursue it with Lexus. I read somewhere that there are a couple of lawsuits against Toyota regarding cracked dashboards and was wondering if that included the Lexus vehicles. As a side note my car was garage kept 95% of the time I had it. When I wasn't driving it, it was parked in the garage. If anyone knows of a class action lawsuit regarding this issue please let me know. I would love to buy another Lexus but I am going to have to reconsider if they are not willing to fix this problem.

My dash started cracking at 60000 miles. I was very disappointed this being a luxury vehicle and my resale diminished. I eventually had dealer replace the dash for a discount on the part and it's never been the same since. Now when the temperature gets below 50 degrees the dash squeaks and the dealer can't find the problem.

The vehicle dashboard has experienced abnormal cracking and decomposition throughout. It started with hairline cracks which spread all through the dash. Since the dash started to turn sticky/gummy, pieces of the dash started falling off near the ends (e.g. where the dash meets the glove compartment). Of concern is airbag deployment in case of an accident. For example, since the dash has been compromised and has cracks, would the airbag deployment cause the dash to splinter and shoot pieces at the car's occupants? Would the stickiness of the dash cause the airbag deployment to fail since it can stick to the dash due to it's newly acquired adhesive properties?
Visibility concerns arise due to the reflections of the dash on the windshield. Since the dash can no longer be kept clean because everything sticks to it, bothersome reflections are cast on the windshield during certain lighting conditions. The local Lexus dealership and Lexus Corporate was notified and they inspected the vehicle. They said the vehicle was no longer covered under warranty and since my vehicle had not been serviced at the dealership, they would not pay to replace the dash; they did offer a 25% discount for the cost of the parts.
From my research, it appears faulty materials may have been used by Toyota/Lexus for a period of some years as there are many reports of this same condition happening to other owners. Since there are safety concerns involved, I believe Lexus should be responsible and replace the faulty dashboards.

I have the severe cracks and now holes in the passenger side dash. No help from the dealer as seems to be common and I haven't tried corporate level complaints yet. I'm trying to sell the car and just thought there might be an easy fix. Are any of the cover options that good? Not sure I want a "carpet cover" in a Lexus, but maybe that's the only choice. I have bought 2 Lexus cars and might change my mind on ever owning another.
Does seem to be poor PR move not to offer a fix that's reasonable since it's not a wear/tear issue.
Dose anyone have any suggestions? Has a dealer stepped up to cover this repair?
Thanks

I bought a new 2004 rx330 in July of 2005. The sound system went...I had to pay to replace it. Now around 2010 the dash started cracking and it is getting worse and worse. It is garaged and never in the sun...I use protectors on the dash when I'm out. Even now I only have 48000 miles on it. It is well cared for. I reported the problem and right away the service person on the phone said 'oh that is no problem bring it in and you pay the labor and we replace it'. (I should have realized then that this is not a rare problem.) Didn't happen....they wanted $1695 to replace it....then they offered 20% off. I wrote to the company and they offered 50% off. I continued to check the internet and see that this is a common problem with this brand. I don't feel I should pay for a replacement of a defective dash...just to have it reoccur again in a few years. This needs to be addressed and replaced by the dealer. They advertise quality and service....who gets cracks in the dash in 5 years? This is a Lexus...just what accounts for the price of these cars if it isn't high quality????? This is a defect....and should have been recalled for it.

Apparently the company does not respond to the problem. As reported by one of your other complainants, the dash board is sticky, discolored and looks as if it is melting. The car has always been garaged. Always well taken care of, so the condition of the dashboard is a failure of the vinyl. Apparently, it has a defect. The company never sent out a notification regarding this problem, although based on one of the other complaints, they had a time frame for replacement when he called the company regarding this problem, but they didn't have a dashboard replacement. We won't purchase a Lexus again. In fact, we have just ordered a Mercedes Benz.
