This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Lincoln dealer.
This is a second issue with the tailgate. Again, the plastic housing that attaches to the glass on the lift-gate, cracked with a single vertical crack directly in the center of the glass lift gate. The dealership again replaced the lift-gate plastic, painted and returned the vehicle. I was told at that time, regardless of my bumper-to-bumper warranty, the dealership will no longer fix this problem. They told me this is an issue with this particular model automobile with Ford and that they will not pay for this problem again.
I asked what was causing the lift-gate to break, and they replied that the weather and temperatures were a large problem for this tail-gate. They were hopeful that having done the repair in the summer, would keep the car from having this happen again. After this "fix" I made every attempt to use only the whole tail-gate rather than the glass lift-gate.

You get this thing fixed, it breaks again a short time later. I've given up on keeping it fixed.
