The lift gate is ajar as per the dash alarm. It cannot open or close from all of the following; 1. Button on dash. 2. Key fob. 3. Button at license plate and 4. Sensor under the bumper.
Top of the line Lincoln flagship should not have this issue. In 20 plus years of Toyota ownership I never had to do anything but regular manufacturer maintenance.
