Issue still not fixed, replacement switch did not work properly, as this car is a 1997 this part was used. Mechanic tried all he could without totally tearing down the car. Mechanic advised that troubleshooting further would mean they had to dismantle the car, and that it could become costly due to the time involved. Advised me that the part alone would be $900 at dealership. Mechanic advised to return the car to the used car dealer and ask for it to be exchanged. Vehicle also had other electrical issues resulting from an after market anti-theft kill switch placed in the car by previous owner. Power drain issue and traction and steering control warnings kept coming on. Mechanic advised against placing such a device on especially newer cars due to it being hard on the computer, like yanking the plug from a home computer. Said that eventually this would fry the cars computer.
