Basically from what I can tell the complaints have already been made just about every complaint I have read I have experienced as a matter of fact the dealer can tell you in advance what is going to fail. The consumer advocate is who is not doing their job in making Ford fix these hazard traps.

Safety defect.. defective lower ball joints 2000 Lincoln Ls with 85,000 miles. While driving the car it pulls to the right and you feel unsafe steering the car. I am told it is so bad that if it completely fails it the wheel/S will separate from the car. Ford has since improved the part, a larger sized ball joint now 16mm vs. 14mm. Dealer repair quote @ $1100, $600 for the parts alone.

I took my car in for regular service, including oil change and tire rotation. Upon inspection, the dealer noted that the steering knuckles were worn out, allowing the tie rods to move. The risk is that the wheel can separate from the car.

The contact's vehicle was involved in an accident on September 10, 2005. The vehicle hit a pot hole and heard something pop. The bolts of the control arm came off. She took vehicle to the dealership, and they replaced the steering knuckle. There was a second accident on October 19, 2005. The contact's husband was driving, not hitting anything, the control arm disconnected and the wheel on the left side of the vehicle caved in. She took vehicle back to the dealership for the second time. The dealership stated it was the control arm that was disconnected. There were no injuries during the accidents, and the passengers were wearing seat belts. The dealership ran the vehicle identification number to see if there were any recalls and there were no recalls. The contact has not contacted manufacturer.
