My air bags lights are always on for no reason, I dont feel safe driving it becauae im scare its goin to brake down on my one day and I have my new born baby with me most of the time I drive the car.

The contact owns 2001 Lincoln Ls. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The dealer replaced the spark plugs and the failure seemed to be remedied however, the vehicle then began to backfire and drive abnormally rough. In addition, the engine would exhibit abnormal noises and an overpowering oil odor. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the contact was informed that the head gasket and coil springs would need replacing. The failure mileage was 105,000 and the current mileage was 108,000.

2001 Lincoln Ls with V8. Vehicle had 70,000 miles when purchased one year ago, now has 102,000. I have had multiple engine misfires (which causes the vehicle to stall or sputter during acceleration, ) which resulted in me having to replace the coil on plug assemblies and spark plugs. The reason these coil packs go bad is because of a defective valve cover gasket, which leads to oil getting in the spark plug wells. Ford has recognized the valve cover gaskets from the factory are faulty, because the replacement gaskets they manufacture are made of a better material. There should be a recall on both valve cover gaskets and the coil on plug assemblies. I noticed that the Ford thunderbirds use the same 3.9L V8 engine, has the same problem, and Ford has issued a recall for the valve cover gaskets on these engines, just not for the Lincoln Ls.

2000 to 2006 Lincoln Ls all have misfire problems, coming from faulty valve cover gaskets, 2000 to 2006 Ford T-birds have same problem, only thing is the Lincoln didn't made the recall list. Same engine though, seems that the valve cover gasket leaks oil into spark plug wells causing short and misfire.

Several engine misfires caused by leaking oil. Coil packs, boots, spark plugs, and the ignition switch have been replaced. On separate occasions, we have fixed the rear and driver side windows which fell in the window tracks, the trunk release was repaired, the rear view mirror shook when driving and the brakes are still squeaking since we bought the car.

This vehicle has 8 coils in it. Its has been to the dealers 8 times. They replaced the coils in the engine #'s 4,6,7, and 2. this first time this happened was on September 3, 2003. Contacted the manufacturer, they say nothing they could do. This was not a dependable vehicle. The dealer stated that if one coil failed, they all will fail.

2001 Lincoln Ls had an air vent facing the wrong way causing water to enter into the trunk.** answer required***. the cd player malfunctioned, front rotors were below specifications and needed to be replaced, when the key was turned on, fresh gasoline was smelled, the vehicle would take 5 seconds to crank before it turned over, slipping was felt in the front end, the engine light had come on and had gone off when the speed was decreased below 60 mph, the #4 coil had gone bad and needed replacement and on another occasion a loud bang was heard under the hood along with white smoke due to a cracked intake manifold. The brake pads had about 2K miles left on them. The consumer requested reimbursement.

The car had a noise in the right front tire that started 2 weeks after the car was bought. The car has been repaired at least 5 times. Still makes noise and sounds as if the whole front is falling apart. Currently, using oil more than normal, has been checked oil leaks and found none. The engine has an idle miss, and every time starting it has white smoke, this is been going on since January 2003. Dealer has repaired the car with lots of parts, but it is still not fixed. And still using oil, when driving over 60 mph the check engine light comes on. The brake system had to be changed 8-9 months after purchasing the vehicle.
