The car started making knocking noise while riding on hwy 85 and I pulled over off on an exit and the car stop would not crank. It only happen this one time. It had to be towed. I had to buy a new engine. My Lincoln Ls only has 108,000 miles on it. My check engine warning light was illuminated and I took the car for inspection. The spark plugs were replaced and the failure seemed to be remedied however, the vehicle begin to backfire and drive abnormally rough, ,in addition, the engine would exhibit abnormal noises and an overpowering oil odor. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the contact was in formed that the head gasket and coil would need to be replacing. The failure mileage was 105,000 and the currant mileage was108,000. The power windows have failed two times and the paint is peeling. I bought this Lincoln Ls because I new it was a good car buying it from the Ford & Mercury dealer. I M sad to say they have let me down and I should not have to be paying double for it. I am a person who believe in taking care of what I live to pay for. I always keep up with oil changing and keeping a clean car. I have over paid more than what this 2001 Ls Lincoln is worth. I am seriously thinking about not buying another Ford vehicle again.the cost of an new engine and other repairs out of pocket repairs cost me over $7000 in cash added on to my car being paid off. I paid $ $23000 and maid my payments on time. Thank you for your sincere concern.

The contact owns a 2001 Lincoln Ls. Whenever the contact drove the vehicle and began to decelerate, the front end of the vehicle pulled to the left which was followed by a grinding sound. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where the contact was informed that the front wheel hub/axle bearing and hub assembly needed to be replaced. There were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 65000. Updated 5/12/10 the left window regulator was replaced. Updated 05/14/10.

I replaced the right rear window regulator in September 2004. Today the left rear window regular went out. I Transport my kids in this car and the window does not work. I just got the vehicle out of the shop two weeks ago. I can not afford to continue to repair this faulty vehicle. I finally made the decision to purchase an american made vehicle. Can you please issue a recall on the window regulators before my children or others get injured. I will be taking the vehicle to the dealer to pay approximately $400. Thank you for your time in dealing with this matter.

In August of 2005, the warranty on my car was going to expire. I took the Lincoln Ls to the dealership to have them check the car over. I told them that 2 of my windows were making strange noises. When I would lower or roll up the windows it made a clicking sound and the windows kind of slammed shut. The very next week, my drivers side window fell down into the door and it wouldn't work! it made this horrible grating sound like the window had broken inside the door. I took the car to the dealership, where is cost me almost 400 dollars to get the window repaired and the service manager told me there had been many problems with the windows on the Lincoln Ls's. I now have two more windows making that same clicking noise and slamming shut when I use the window, so basically, I am unable to use the windows in my car because I can't fork out 800 dollars to get the windows fixed. The front side passenger window has started falling down 1/2 to inch even when no one is using the window. This is a huge problem and a safety issue. If I were in a wreck, I have no assurance that the windows would work properly if I were trapped in my car. Its a safety issue in rainy weather, it is difficult to concentrate on driving when the window comes down and rain is pouring into the car. I have leather seats and rain would mess up my seats. It is also a safety issue during the summer and hot weather- suffocation could occur if I were trapped in the car! I have read literally 100's of complaints about this issue with the windows on the Lincoln Ls's. this is supposedly a luxury car- shouldn't Lincoln be required to fix this problem once and for all so people can feel safe and use their car for the purpose it was bought instead of having to keep in it the shop every 2 or 3 months?

: the contact stated all four windows fall down. The front driver and passenger side window motors and frames have been replaced. The windows continues to fail. Also, the rear windows have the same problem. Although there have been repairs, the contact is unaware of the repairs made to the windows.

Window regulator failure. All regulators on vehicle have been replaced at least once over the last 3 years, and now one of those replaced previously is in need of replacement again. Failure renders window completely inoperative. Additionally, the front headlamps continue to build up moisture/condensation in them. These item have been replaced at least twice in the last 3 years and are in need of replace yet again.

I own a 2001 Lincoln Ls. In the three years I have owned the vehicle, the rear power window has burned out three times, most recently today. This is obviously a faulty part of the vehicle. Admittingly, the dealership stated that several vehicles had experienced the same, however no recall has been issued. The first incident during the first year of ownership was under waranty. The second occurence was split in cost this past August and now they are advising that they refuse to repar, despite the fact that it is the same equipment. They stated that I have exceeded the 12 months/12,00 miles. What can I do?

I got my car in Jan. Of 2004, since then the dealership has seen it more than I have. The airbag light keeps coming on, window regulators keep going out, windows keep geting off track and making awful noises, windows slam shut, and the brakes are squealing but the dealship can never find the problem and when they do 'fix' these problems, a few weeks later they are broke again. I cant keep taking off work for this and the dealer I bought it from wont help me, and because it is a used car, there are no lemon laws. What can I do? help!!!

Both rear window regulators failed. The replacement window regulator on the rear left failed and resulted in a shattered window which then damaged the door paint. Shoddy repair work then led to further problems with the paint and finish. The faulty window regulators appear to be a chronic problem, since I know of another Ls owner with the same chronic problem. This problem at the wrong time or place can result in serious safety and security issues. Does not give one a good feeling about when this could happen again. The fix applied does not appear to be any better thatn the original equipment that failed. Ford needs to develop a solid fix for this luxury vehicle with windows that do not operate properly.
