The contact owns a 2005 Lincoln Ls. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was becoming stuck while attempting to operate the vehicle. While driving less than 65 mph, she felt as if something were stuck underneath the accelerator pedal and it would resist force. The dealer could not duplicate the failure; however, the diagnostic determined that the throttle failed. The failure persisted and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who installed a throttle actuator control, gasket, and accelerator pedal sensor to remedy the failure. After the repairs, the parking brake warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The mechanic assured her that the brakes were replaced and the instrument panel displayed a faulty warning message. To date, the failure still cannot be duplicated and the contact is awaiting the arrival of a part that would apparently remedy the failure. The failure mileage was 63,295 and current mileage was 66,000.

2005 Lincoln Ls with brake failure. Customer states the vehicle stopped when the she hit the accelerator. Computer display showed service etc soon, and the parking brake warning light was on. The consumer attempted to move the vehicle out of the lane of travel using the emergency brake release and the gear shift lever to release the brake but could not move the vehicle except to the side of the road with an extreme bucking motion. The consumer turned off the ignition and restarted the vehicle and the error messages were gone, and the vehicle drove normally. The consumer checked the vehicle and noticed the brakes and rotors were extremely hot. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, however they were unable to duplicate the problem the consumer experienced. The consumer stated the road was dry and there was no loose gravel that should have caused the anti-lock brakes to activate. The consumer stated the same problem persists with brakes locking and the engine lost all throttle response, the vehicle was towed to the dealer and the dealer replaced the throttle positioning sensor.
