MKX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,000 miles

The car just died without warning, no lights ever came up on dashboard. Dealership has said coolant and oil was found in engine. It’s been almost a month and our vehicle still hasn’t been fixed, we have paid out of the ass and pocket for a car rental which is a scam.

MKX AWD 3.7L Tivct V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 150,000 miles

I had just driven about 150 miles and I noticed the the cruise control losing a few miles when set. About 47 miles later the car started to die and the heater went off. That is the first time the yellow coolant light and the yellow engine light came on. I was 1/2 mile from home and coasted it in. Thinking the car had a radiator issue, I check the radiator when it cooled off and it was bone dry. The next day I took it to get it checked out close to home. They told me that they couldn't help me that it was the water pump.

I took it then to my mechanic and was told that fluid had leaked into the engine and I had to replace it. No warranty. What really upset me was that there were no warning lights prior to it almost dying. They were yellow lights and nothing red to indicate major immediate issue. I am wondering if this is something I need to report or take up with Lincoln.

MKX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 103,000 miles

I HAD THE SIMILAR ISSUE 6 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE SAME ISSUE ESCALATED TO WORSE RIGHT NOW, LESS THEN A YEAR AFTER I GOT IT REPAIRED. I WAS DRIVING ON A 35 MILES/PER HOUR ZONE AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING I HEARD THE CAR MAKING CLICKING NOISE AND COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, I SAW SOME SMOKE COMING OUT FROM THE HOOD. I HAD SOMEONE CHECKED IT FOR ME. MY COOLANT WAS GOING INTO MY ENGINE. I GOT IT TOWED TO DEALER THE ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED FOR ALMOST $10,000.00. I HAD THE CAR SERVICED 2 MONTHS AGO AT THE DEALER AND I'M STILL OVER 3,000.00 MILES UNTIL MY NEXT SERVICE.

MKX Limited 3.7L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 74,000 miles

Apparently, this is a common problem with the 2011 Lincoln MKX / Ford Edge engines.... all of a sudden the car won't work, stopped, towed to 2 mechanics. Bottom line: coolant leaked into engine, mixing with oil, causing the need for new engine... engine - $4,600; labor - $2,100, plus tax, total - $7,200. What a lemon of a car!!! The car is 6 years old; I bought it at 2 years old. A new engine? Believe me, I do not drive it roughly. Never, never, another junky car like this one. I had to make a quick trade when my previous SUV ( 15 years old... great vehicle!) was in the shop and was talked into this MKX. It is "glitzy pretty" but I would rather have a truck than this car. Never again!
