This also happened a year ago. I took my Lincoln MKX to the Lincoln Service Center. They kept the car for two weeks and could not get the problem to duplicate. Told me it was probably just bad gas that I put in the car. Didn't happen again until recently and once while on the highway. Made another service call and told them the same thing was happening. As I explained to them, once again, you are driving and you press on the gas and you lose all acceleration. You have to roll to a stop put your car in park turn it off and then restart it. Then it seems to drive fine until it randomly happens again with no warning. The wrench light comes on and that is the only warning light.

So during this service visit they didn't have a loaner until 2 days after. They drove my car for a day because I left with the keys so there is no way they drove it for longer than a day. They say that there is nothing wrong with it and to come pick it up. I told them they need to figure it out because the vehicle is not safe to drive. Its just me and my 7 year old and its terrifying knowing that at any moment we could lose the ability to accelerate and be at the mercy of the vehicle and pray that nobody runs into us. Lincoln doesn't seem to know what the problem is even though so many others have experienced the same thing.

After I contacted corporate for some help they called the dealership and asked that they keep my car for a couple more days and that they needed to drive it some more because it will happen again it is just a matter of time and next time we might not be so lucky to get out of harms way. However they insisted that my car was fine and if I didn't return their loaner by end of day they were going to start charging me. I couldn't believe it.

Over two years it has happened 7 times and 4 times over the past 2 weeks. Their lack of effort to help resolve this problem and their complete lack of concern for our safety and the safety of others is absolutely mind boggling. Im sure this is what I will be dealing with for awhile and I truly hope that I can get somebody at Lincoln who is concerned and helps me resolve this very dangerous issue.
