The contact owns a 2016 Lincoln MKX. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the brake assist, brake, traction control, and anti-skid warning lights illuminated. The auto-braking system became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the wheel hub, wheel sensor, lower control arm, and ball joint. Additionally, the mechanic informed the contact about several low voltage codes. The battery, alternator, and starter were working as designed, but there was low voltage. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

I placed my foot on the Brake to release the Emergency brake. I heard a pop. The brake pedal immediately went to car floor. I didn-??t know what it was initially but quickly realized something was wrong with my brakes when I was on the highway. When I tried to brake the pedal went to the floor and the car did not slow properly. I made it to the subdivision entrance when the low brake fluid indicator light came on. I made it home safely. When I stopped, smelled an odor (I was told it was likely brake fluid). I had it towed to the dealership. It was diagnosed the day after, informing me brake line had broke. I asked what was the cause and possibly wear and tear? He informed a weak spot in the line. I called Lincoln customer relations bc it-??s a safety issue whether it is a new or old car under warranty to address my concerns. They explained I would have to pay since a warranty was not in place. As a customer, my car is under 100, 000 miles and I service it routinely. I am more concerned of this being an issue with safety than a warranty being in place. My son or myself could have been in a bad accident sustaining serious injuries with no brakes. The Lincoln rep implied my car was old, which is an insult. It-??s only 7 years old. My 22 year old Toyota is still working and the brake line has never broke. I was informed by the service tech it is unusual to see this occur in the back brakes. The brake line/hose broke and the brake fluid leaked out. In my opinion, it-??s a defect, durability, and a safety issue regardless of the age of my car. It is a much bigger problem that should be addressed. The customer service rep and her manager were eluding to their extended warranty program and they could not offer financial assistance. I have paid more for services when I feel it-??s wear and tear. It is a safety issue with a possible defective part, which I should not be responsible to pay, regardless of a warranty being in place or not. Safety and durability are the bigger issue.

Have a recall for the emergency brake light coming on due to possible brake line rupture. I took it into the dealership and they told me I needed a battery and the light would go out!!! While the light is still on after 2weeks leaving the dealership. I had an appointment for them to fix the issue with an service loaner to be giving them I was called a day before and they told me a vehicle would not be available cause customers cars had been damaged! Now what do that have to do with an safety issue regarding brakes that may cause me and my family to be in an accident? They have not contacted me other than to tell me my extended warranty will pay for it! That means I have to pay a deductible which I had already given $200 previous for that issue and it wasn-??t solved.

Unreasonable amount of time for a manufacturer recall repair. Given the severity of this recall for the front brake flex lines the amount of time from notification to current date with no replacement parts available which is still on going. As seniors we feel that our car is very unsafe to drive as we have been told we may not be able to stop the vehicle without warning.

Recall issued in August of 2020. I have called monthly to get obtain an update for the availability of part needed to repair my vehicles brakes, and my dealership keeps pushing the date of availability back. The dealership states that the manufacturer is not providing a date when the part will be available. My dealership is instructed me to check my vehicle 'daily for brake fluid leaks, " this is unacceptable. I purchased a "new" car in 2016, "not a used car, " and I should not have to "check my car daily" for a leak in my brake fluid. Lincoln has had almost six months to obtain and start repairs of this recall and has failed to initiate the repair. As a us consumer I should not have to drive my vehicle with the fear that my brakes may go out, or fail to stop timely every time I drive. This is not a door handle that is loose, this is my brakes, on my car. Please help! Lincoln needs to be held responsible and start providing the repairs that consumers need in order to operate a safe vehicle. Thank you.

Yesterday, December 17, 2020, while backing from a parking space the brakes self-applied, no alarm sounded prior, and while not close to anything. I could let off the accelerator and the brake would release some. When straightened out and driving a short distance down the aisle it happened 2 or 3 more times and gave a red side warning light. Dead stops, accelerator felt hard to push. Happened both when cars were on the side(s) and none close at all. I got to the intersection with no cars close on all 4-sides. When I pulled into the intersection, it braked to a complete stop and refused to move. By playing with throttle and drive/park buttons, I got the car moving, I pulled into an open area and shut the car off, and restarted. I drove home, went through an 8-foot garage door, and parked with no more problems. This all happened in a walmart parking lot and exit lane. Due to the hard braking, if there had been cars behind or approaching a collision would have been possible if the other driver could not react to avoid my car.

The contact owns a 2016 Lincoln Mkx. The contact initially received notification of NHTSA campaign number:19V809000 (electrical system) however, the parts at the time were unavailable. Hassett Ford (3530 sunrise hwy, wantagh, NY 11793) was contacted numerous times and confirmed each time that parts were not yet available. The contact then stated that several warning lights including the ABS warning light would illuminate intermittently on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer and had her service lights repaired. After the repair while driving at 20 mph, the contact attempted to depress the brake pedal but the brakes failed to operate which resulted in her hitting another vehicle as an engine light illuminated. The air bags did not deploy and the contact, in a state of shock, could not move after impact. The authorities were called to the scene and a police report was filed. The contact denied medical attention, despite experiencing neck pain, due to covid-19; no other injuries were reported. The contact's son was able to drive the vehicle back to her home. Upon investigation, the contact's husband discovered another recall on the vehicle for NHTSA campaign number: 20V469000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic); however, the parts for that recall also remained unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer had yet to be made aware of the collision. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available for NHTSA campaign number: 20V469000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic).

Exited off freeway brake pedal popped and went all the to the floor. I had no brakes! right front brake line split, loss of brake fluid and loss of brakes!!! this is a huge safety issue, if this would have happened 3 minutes sooner, I would have been going 70-80 mph. This should be under a recall!

In may and June of 2019 on 2 different occasions, our 2016 Lincoln Mkx ignition 'turned off' on its own without any input by the driver while using cruise-control on a crowded highway going 75 mph! when it occurred, a text message was displayed superimposed over the tachometer that read: 'caution: Ignition turned off'. fortunately, when it turned off, the car automatically shifted into 'neutral' instead of 'park', which it does automatically when the ignition switch is used to turn the car 'off'! after it shut off, we coasted in 'neutral' without power brakes or power steering while surrounded by mack trucks and other cars. Thank god there was a shoulder on the roadway where we could safely pull over. Before we could attempt to restart the car, we had to coast to a complete stop, put the car in 'park', depress the brake pedal, and press the ignition button. Had we been in a work-zone w/concrete barricades and no shoulder, we could have been run over/killed by a mack truck and/or other car(s) approaching from behind at high speeds. The service manager at our Lincoln dealership said they have never heard of this occurrence, but we easily found two (2) websites discussing this issue regarding the Mkx. We can only wonder how many people may have already died with no explanation about why they were at a full stop on a busy highway. Because we restarted the car, the service manager said the "error" history in the computer was erased - bad programing! both times our incidents happened, we had been driving about an hour on the highway. The car has been 'in the shop' at the dealership for 2 weeks, and we are still awaiting an explanation and fix. I'm not sure I'll ever feel confident/safe enough to drive it again!

On or about 10/22/18, took SUV to dealership for scheduled maintenance. Mechanic found that SUV needed front brakes. 1. front rotors were machined and new brake pads installed. About a week later; as I applied brakes car started making grinding noise, noise is intermittent and sounds like it is coming from front brakes. 11/29/18 - took SUV back for front brake intermittent noise; rotors were replaced and brake pads were replaced. About a week or two later, I start getting same intermittent brake noise (grinding). 1/3/19 - I took SUV back to dealership for brake noise, mechanic test drove SUV and could not duplicate noise. (did not put car on lift). Service manager rode with me and could not duplicate noise. As I was leaving dealership, brakes made noise again and has been making noise ever since. New brakes should not make grinding noise.
