I've had cars older than this where the dash may crack but never distorted. It causes the defroster to be re-directed so that the air does not rush over the inside of the windshield making the defroster ineffective.

the dash board is unwrapping around the defrost vent. It blows yellow dust all over my car from the foam, which makes me cough while driving. This is horrible and effects my visibility. I have had other cars much older, where this never happened.

THIS BUBBLING DASHBOARD SHOWED UP RIGHT AFTER I HAD THE HVAC SYSTEM REPAIRED AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. WHEN I CONFRONTED THEM, THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL AND THAT IT WAS ALREADY BUBBLED. "BOVINE SCATOLOGY!" I ASKED IF THERE WAS A TSB ON THIS AND THEY SAID NO. THEY SAID IT WAS A NEW PROBLEM AND THEIR REMEDY TO ME WAS TO HAVE THE DASH REPLACED ($2,400.00). SINCE WE DON'T HAVE A LINCOLN DEALER IN MY TOWN (VALDOSTA, GEORGIA) ANYMORE, IT'S PROBABLY TIME TO MOVE TO SOMETHING ELSE. THE CAR HAS BEEN GREAT ON GAS AND PEPPY IN PERFORMANCE. BUT IT'S EMBARASSINGLY CHEAPLY BUILT FOR A LINCOLN PRODUCT. THE FUSION ON WHICH IT IS BASED, SEEMS TO HAVE BETTER MAINTENANCE RELIABILITY. MY WIFE CANNOT STAND ANY OF THE OTHER LINCOLN PRODUCTS.

dashboard bubbling up by front windshield vent
I have an extended warranty on this vehicle and was told that it's not covered. Car is in excellent shape and dealer maintained. I have not fixed it yet, but have found an auto repair Upholstery shop who said they can attempt to fix it, cost around 400.00. They will have to remove the windshield to do this. I have called Lincoln Customer Service and they opened a case buy there is nothing that they can do. I've owned Lincolns for over 25 years and have never seen this. But the dealer said they have seen a few of these come in. I’m extremely upset about this and will be selling this car after the repair and will not be buying Lincolns after this.

This issue has become a safety problem since the defroster vent has now popped up redirecting the defroster away from the windshield. I see this problem was also on the 2006 model Zephyr so Lincoln/Ford has been aware of it for some time.
