Sigh... these wheels. I have replaced wheels several times in the last 3 years. 2 days ago saw the front two tires (which the RF is almost brand new) were very low after I guessed a slow leak, so I filled them up... 2 days later: Front left is almost completely flat. Again.

I heard about the wheels/rims being low low quality flaking chrome garbage and see on this site others found the same conclusion.

So... I plan to replace all 4 wheels with aftermarket ones. So fun.

I just bought this car from my neighbor. The car looks like it just came off the showroom floor, very well taken care and low mileage for a 2007. I can't believe Lincoln would put such garbage wheels/rims on their cars. The metal is cracking and falling apart all over. I think Lincoln should have a recall on these rims, they are dangerous. I don't have the money to buy new rims. I was so proud to finally own a Lincoln and then when people see the wheels/rims they can't believe how junkie they are. Lincoln should be ashamed.

I am so sick of my 2007 Lincoln MK Z. At first I felt really blessed, now...I feel cursed. I've had it for almost a year and half and this last 9 months have been hell with the tires. I bought a new set in November of 2017 and I've since had to get 2 used ones for the back tires and just this morning 3 weeks later, one of the used ones are flat and I'm back on the spare. After reading everyone's comments, I don't feel so alone, but it doesn't replace the money I've wasted on tires. I've already contacted the dealership for a trade in. What I learned from this ordeal? To research my vehicle before buying it

How many times must I have the tires re-sealed? Each time its cost me $100/per wheel. I had compliments at first on the chrome rims and I liked them too until I started noticed the flaking. It wasn't long before I'd come out to find a flat tire, maybe 2 at the same time. All of the wheels have this problem and I first though this was a Hurricane Sandy car flooded with salt debris or something until I read so many others are having the same issue.

It's not just that the rims flake but the tires are worn prematurely from losing air as you're driving. This add-on was not cheap. I've seen makes with chrome wheels on older cars than mine w/o this problem. Each time the wheels must be sanded and re-lined, then balanced since the balance bar is on the rim itself. Its only a matter of time before I have a blow out doing highway speed. It would be one thing if the rim just became ugly but this is a drive-ability issue. I guess trade car or buy Japanese/China stuff. Couldn't be worse. Lincoln? Luxury? Learned a big lesson. Maybe a few less buttons/leds and better engineering.

I will never buy another Lincoln. A nice car with that hasn't given many problems, but the constant worry and inconvenience of checking and adding air to the tires is a pain. There are enough complaints that there is obvious wheel defects that Ford has chosen to ignore.

I have owned seven different Lincolns. But this aggravating and ongoing problem with the Wheels on the Lincoln MKZ's will be the end of my Lincoln buying. The problem is the chrome covered aluminum wheels. are defective the chrome cannot properly adhere to the aluminum which causes the chrome to flake off. This typically occurs where the wheel is stressed with contact under the bead of the tire. The Dealership where the car was purchased could not find the problem YEAH RIGHT.

The local tire shop said Oh its a MKZ it the wheels are leaking under the bead. They were right and all tires have now been broken down loose chrome flaked off sealer put on them, and this sometimes works for a couple months, and then must be redone.. The usual is that I come out to a flat about once a week. I regularly re-inflate and check all tires on this car and now keep an air hose stretched out to my driveway and carry a portable compressor with me.

Ford Motor Company is well aware of this problem but they refuse to do anything about it. They ought to be forced to replace them on everything they put these wheels on, or at least a settlement so that the unfortunate owners of this crap can have them replaced.

I called ford main office and was told wheels were not covered. I paid $200 extra for each wheel.what a shame.this is a ripoff.they are getting worse as time go by.I will have to replace all4.

Love the Vehicle, is so sad to see so much corrosion and pitting of the Chrome plated Wheels. Last visit to dealer for oil change and safety check before a long trip south I reported a problem with tire(s) going soft was told the chrome finish of tire bead area was very badly flaking and causing air pressure problem. The tire was removed from rim and the bead area was treated with sealer then remounted, re-balanced.

I must say this condition is certainly a problem with the quality of Chrome Plating of all four rims. Possibly a safety issue due to tire failures caused by loosing pressure while operating at highway speeds.

Hold on to the steering wheel people and try searching for replacement wheels as there is no economical reliable repair for the Chrome pitting, flaking, and in general total falling away from the rim surfaces. A much better idea is to replace all four wheels with aftermarket rims, they run approximately $100.00 ea., which does not include TP Sensors, mounting and balancing, adapter rings for hub center diameter differences. Make no mistake here the $100.00 wheel is not nice Chrome shiny and OEM. It'll be made in some foreign country and support someone else economic growth.

Lincoln division of Ford wake up, customers do like nice shiny wheels and will pay extra for them but why buy them if they become unsightly and, most importantly, unsafe !

UNFORTUNATELY THEY WONT ACCEPT THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM TILL SOMEBODY BLOWS A TIRE ON THE EXPRESSWAY, NOT REALIZING THE TIRES ARE LOW. WHICH ARE PRETTY MUCH CONTINUOUSLY. I TRIED FIX A FLAT WORKED FOR SHORT TIME.
