The contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mkz. The contact stated that the driver's side front door latch failed to securely close. The contact used a bungee cord to secure the door. The vehicle was taken to willis Ford (15 N. dupont blvd, smyrna, de 19977), and was diagnosed that the door latch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 20V331000 (latches/locks/linkages) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

While driving various speeds, the doors suddenly opened. The contact stated that the door latches failed a total of three more times. The contact found that there was a supplemental recall in 2017 per NHTSA campaign number: 17V210000 (latches/locks/linkages), but she did not receive a recall notification. The contact took the vehicle to oxmoor Ford Lincoln (located at 100 oxmoor ln, louisville, ky 40222, 502-426-2500) and was informed that the vehicle was not included in the supplemental recall. The manufacturer ws made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle met the manufacturing dates of the recall and the location. The manufacturer provided case number: Cas24969610T1X3K6. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mkz. While driving 20 mph, the rear passenger side door opened without warning. The contact managed to hold the door closed with a towel and drove to jack demmer Ford (37300 Michigan ave, wayne, mi 48184, (734) 529-5521). The dealer taped the door closed, but did not diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to spirit Ford (4402 ann arbor rd, dundee, mi 48131, (734) 529-5521) where it was diagnosed that the rear door latch failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The dealer stated that the vehicle had previously been repaired per an unknown recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 24889725, but no further assistance was provided. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 17V210000 (latches/locks/linkages). The failure mileage was approximately 32,700.

While waiting for an extended period of time for the manufacturer to supply the remedy and parts, the rear passenger door latch fractured and failed to remain secure while the vehicle was in motion.
