The rear seatbelt buckle isn't functioning correctly and is causing a seatbelt light. We are now told we have to spend close to $1,000 to get the buckle replaced OR there's a chance my airbags will malfunction across the entire car should I get in an accident.

The contact owned a 2013 Lincoln Mkz. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle was involved in a minor front end crash. While the contact was exchanging information with the occupant of the other vehicle, the contact's vehicle unintentionally accelerated into a stone wall. A police report was not filed. The seat belt pretensioner did not restrain the occupant. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a collision center where it was deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. There were two injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was involved in NHTSA campaign number: 16V875000 (seat belts); however, they did not receive notification of the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mkz. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14V597000 (air bags, seat belts) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
