MKZ

  • Manual transmission
  • 55,000 miles

Issue started after an oil change. It started running rough and idling loud. Took 3 trips to my mechanic before they could get a diagnosis. This was after the engine light first came on. Diagnosed with a crack in the engine wall and coolant fluid leaking into engine. Contacted Lincoln. They referred me to a Ford dealer for another diagnosis before they could put it on file. Ford dealer sent me to Lincoln dealer. Engine light kept coming on and off, so cancelled a couple appointments since I was told hard to diagnose without the engine light on. Lincoln Dealer quoted me over $14,000 to fix and said it was not safe to keep driving the car.

I had only purchase car 11 months prior to this happening. It was bought with inheritance when my mom passed away. I have been on medical disability for over 25years & only get $1229 in Social Security. More calls to the concierge at Lincoln where they offered no help and wouldn't do anything. I had to eventually pay for a refurbished engine on my credit card after months of risking it break down, driving it infrequently in fear of breaking down. Final straw was driving home from a workout one day when bells and lights came in multiples. The next day the coolant reservoir was completely empty. It has not run properly since. The refurbished engine has a 3-year warranty. I had it replace the end of May, and I will be taking it back for a second time, since it has been running as poorly as it did before I replaced the engine. I am so heartbroken. It has caused financial difficulties, constant stress & anger that nothing was done by Lincoln. Every day I drive it is a constant reminder of what happened.
