I had a problem one day with my 96 Lincoln Towncar. I came out in the garage one morning and the back was damned near dragging the ground! My shop told me the compressor needed to be replaced. Two weeks later I was back in the shop for the same thing. They offered to repair the compressor under the new one's warranty but now tried to sell me new air springs (bags) and new "solenoids" and install all of that with the second new compressor!!! I had to take time off of work to get the car to and from the shop and now had an extra expense coming out of my savings!!!

An old man in the lobby told me about a company called Strutmasters and said that they had something that would permanently fix the suspension. I went to the website http://www.strutmasters.com and saw suspension conversion kits. They take you off of the air compressor, air bags, solenoids etc and replace the system with two steel coil springs and shocks. I don't have to worry about dryers and sensors or any of that anymore. After doing more research, I found out that their steel springs were made in America and never reheated or reshaped so the steel is just as strong as when it was first forged. I didn't realize that some of the companies selling these conversion kits buy their steel coils from places like China or reheat old coils off of any old car then reshape them all in the name of cutting costs.

I am very happy with my decision so far (the lifetime warranty helps), and I finally love my TownCar again. I hope this helps someone else who is having these terribly inconvenient and expensive problems.
