About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Assisting a friend with this. The left rear axle has broken and damaged the brakes and ABS sensor. He had driven the vehicle to work and parked it. After his shift ended, he started the vehicle, shifted into gear and found the vehicle would not move & was making noise. He had it towed to his house and asked me to diagnose the cause. After raising the rear axle, I was able to determine that the left rear axle bearing had worn through the axle and it broke. When I checked the NHTSA website, it showed it was not covered under the rear axle safety recall, although the conditions are similar to what was listed.

Upon further inspection, the contact noticed that there was grease on the inner side of both rims. In addition, the contact noticed that grease was leaking from both rear bearings. The contact repaired the brakes. However, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was aware of NHTSA campaign number: 04V328000 (suspension), but the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 150,000.
