I was really hoping to find a class-action lawsuit in place over this issue. Guess I'll have to settle for a short rant here.

First off, as I was warned more than four decades ago, anyone who buys a car with a sunroof is asking for trouble. When the car is high end European or similar, it will happen somewhat later. When it is US made - and especially a Ford product circa 2004 - it will happen much, much sooner. In all cases there is no "if".

The 2004 Lincoln Town Car sunroof [and presumably other years either side of it] is a study in bad design, bad materials and bad construction. You can't be sure whether it's fully closed or not, and in any case it admits rainwater like a pasta-drainer. The electronics and doors in my 2004 are just about shot from it.

I will never, ever buy another Ford after this experience, new or used.

BTW, side mirror and windshield post blind spots in this and all Fords since the 1990s are so bad they should have resulted in devastating lawsuits by now. Visibility of as much as six feet horizontal is blocked at just a few feet away, which is enough to hit another vehicle or pedestrian without ever seeing them no matter how alert. Especially in this age of cell phone idiocy. Lawyers, take note.
