Zephyr

  • Automatic transmission
  • 92,000 miles

The car always had minor hard shifting problems but they worsened very slowly over the years until but at 92,000 the hard shifting started getting worse at also started experiencing slippage while driving and hesitation in acceleration. Transmission place said continue driving until unable to drive because the transmission is not possible to be repaired. They said it is a common problem seen with Ford/licoln models. A new transmission would be $5000 at least if not more.

Zephyr 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

Purchased my Zephyr used in December, 2009 - 2 1/2 months later around February, 2010 I have transmission failure - then again in May, 2010, more transmission problems. Kept telling the dealership and transmission place it still was not right then transmission went out again in March, 2011. My car is back with the dealership/transmission store with transmission problems for 4th time now. Is this a common problem with the Zephyr - I am partial to Lincoln's and never had problem in the past but now I am questioning their reliability???
