626 LX 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 89,000 miles

Like a fool, I purchased this Mazda 626 third hand because I could not afford a new car and always thought the 626 was a nice looking car. So I went to test drive it and it drove well for the test drive. I bought the car with cash. I live an hour away from where I bought it. The car drove fine until I was within the last ten miles of my house. At a red light I stopped. When it turned green the car revved up, rpms in the 40 to 50 range, but barely moved. I limped the car home, aggravated and very pissed off!

I called the man I bought the car from when I got home. He acted like he did not know the transmission was failing. After doing research online I now know the trannys in these cars are terrible and there is no way he was not aware of that. The man said he never had a problem with the tranny but after all my research I know that he did not disclose anything about the transmission failing, which I know is a lie.

Before this happened I liked Mazdas. Now I despise them. How can a company install defective transmissions in cars and then refuse to replace them and continue year after year to use the same POS transmissions? I will never buy another Mazda. So I told the guy I bought this car from I am going to take him to small claims court if he does not give me my money back. As of today I am going to have to get a tow truck to take the car back to him. He said he would give me my money back, but we shall see.

626 ES 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 35,000 miles

Carmax sold me this mazda 626 in 2004. As soon as I was bout to drive it off the lot, the check engine light came on. They said they just ran the car over some water so that may have caused it to come on (BS). They got it to turn off then told me to bring it back the next day so they can check it out more. Them checking it out took a few dadys. One day I went to go check and see what was going on and why it was taking so long. The mechanic working on my car told me it was a little problem with the transmission but it was almost finished getting fixed and there shouldn't be anymore problems,....(BS). I was young and naive. Didn't know a thing bout cars except for how to drive them and that they need oil changes, brakes, and tires every so often. This was just the beginning of my problems with this transmission. Not to mention carmax screwed me on the financial side as well, but thats a whole different blog.
