Had this for only 5 months now, the Soul Red Crystal paint is embarrassingly cheap and fragile.
Just power washing my car gets me more paint chips. I practice safe driving, with maximum following distance, yet every time I get out and look at my car, boom there's a another paint chip giving me the middle finger from Mazda.
I ran this with my dealer, basically told me I am a "reckless" driver and these things happen. Of course they happen, just not this much, this fast.
Emailed Mazda themselves said this:
"My color is the SOUL RED CRYSTAL which I paid extra for, now I searched online and there are MANY people like me who bought the Red paint and have been getting paint chips left and right, when we go to the dealerships, we all get the same answer that we are driving recklessly and it is OUR fault. It is not, I have a 2015 FORD F1F0 and I've had it for 4 years, only 3 paint chips.. Adds insult to injury when you make us pay extra for the Soul Red."
Oh yeah, we paid 500 dollars extra for this "PREMIUM" paint, you guys.
This is their response;
"With regards to the stone chips on your vehicle, we must advise you that this is not a cover component of the vehicle as per your Warranty Booklet. Impacts to vehicle from road debris are not considered a manufacturing defect, as this is beyond the control of Mazda. Should you wish for us to look into this further, we can only suggest that you have your vehicle inspected by your Mazda dealership. If you could kindly provide me with the name of the dealership you plan on visiting for this concern, I can contact them and advise them of the situation."
