Just as the recall issued for the 2014-2016 the Mazda Connect Touch Screen continues to be an issue for most owners with this Infosystem. Mine for two years since I bought it will do the -??ghost touch-?? on its own, literally operating on its own. My settings change on their own, doing such things as the volume on its own going from a normal tone to blasting, causing such alarm that I-??ve nearly gone off the road. My back up screen brightness changes on its own, causing a real safety concern of running into something or someone. This is just two examples-??all of the functions go -??haywire-?? and just change at any unexpected time. This issue can be seen over and over online by Mazda owners. And I-??ve reached out to Mazda themselves who state they are not aware of any issue, yet the dealerships are well aware of this dangerous issue and quickly know exactly what the issue is when you explain what the car is doing and let you know that for $1200 they can replace the info system. I just don-??t see how they can have this issue since at least 2014 and continue to sell cars with the same issue a recall was issued for. It-??s so dangerous.

My Mazda connect touch screen operates by itself (ghost touch) while driving down the road. My safety is at risk trying to press button to get it turned off, while driving down the road. It is a huge distraction. The volume speakers at the high level and continues to beep and yell your audio will be at this volume level (the loudest). It is not listed as a recall foe this make and model, but should be. Doing further research this looks to be an issue with all of their vehicles and Mazda is not holding themselves accountable or trying to fix the issue in newer vehicles. There have not been any warning signs. I-??ve had my car for 5 years come this August and my vehicles has been doing this for about 6 months now.

The infotainment screen is malfunctioning and acts on it own. Random parts of the screen are touched on its own creating a lot of distractions. Examples are changing of screens, settings, ending my navigation, calling contacts etcetera. This is a huge safety hazard and Mazda dealerships are charging for diagnosis for a commonly known issue, claiming the cause is unknown, despite numerous posts and threads online linking this to a screen delaminiation issue.

As I was driving home one day in February 2024, my car felt like a strong gust of wind was getting up underneath the hood of my car, causing it to pull left and right slightly. When checking the weather, wind gusts were at 5 MPH and you could barely see trees/leaf movement. I pulled off the side of the road, checked underneath the car to see if anything was dragging/missing and all was fine. As I started driving again, I then noticed my RPM's vs MPH was very strange. When accelerating, the car randomly increased up to 4,500 RPM when trying to go 45 MPH, then shifted down to 2,000 RPM's once I reached 45 MPH. But, no matter if I left my foot on the gas pedal, lifted my foot off of the gas pedal or hit the breaks, the car would not move off of 2,000 RPM's until I pressed my foot on the break all the way down to the floorboard. No lights came on at all. I took it to the dealership that I purchased it from, expressing the scary feeling of the driving the car and showing video proof of what the car was doing in RPM's vs MPH. After further conclusion, they determined that a "sensor" had gone bad. The thought that a plastic, electronic sensor going back caused my car to feel that way and put my life at risk while driving is a scary thought. Fast-forward to April of 2024, similar symptoms have come back again. Wind feeling like it's getting under my hood, causing the car to pull left and right, RPM's not matching up and now a hot engine with no warning light coming on, is questioning if it's this particular sensor again. Not to mention, I had it inspected by the dealership two weeks ago and had an oil change done to it and the dealership said "everything looks great". You should have zero thought or worry when operating your personal vehicle, but in the past three months, I have taken my car to the dealership and or a mechanic 7 times with thoughts/worries about my car. This car has now turned into a "lemon" as one would call it and I'm terrified to even start the car.

The electrical system malfunctions repeatedly. The volume on the navigation will set to maximum by itself. This is alarming and poses a safety risk. It also randomly texts people detailed location information of the driver. This is a safety risk for minors and people in abusive relationships or with a PFA order. It appears to be a common problem with this car.

Infotainment Issue (Ghost Touch Issue). Mazda has been experiencing problems with the Infotainment Issue (all around the globe.. I am located in Mexico. Not sure if this channel is the right way to ask for help outside the USA); in different models such as Mazda 3, CX5, etc. My Mazda CX5 is a 2019 year model with only 10,000 miles. The "Ghost Touch Issue" started just after the 3 year warranty expired. I have the extended warranty but Mazda just confirmed this issue is not covered anymore and I need to pay approximately $1,000 US Dlls to fix the issue (and only 3 months warranty... recommendation not to park the car under the sun which for me is ridiculous). This "Ghost Touch Issue is more than an annoyance. IT IS DANGEROUS. The vehicle itself says not to play with the system while driving. When the volume goes to max suddenly on the radio and channels or worse, settings suddenly change beeping with each change (this issue causes music stations to skip around back and forth, unattended phone calls, etc); and IT IS IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO BE DISTRACTED. I got involved in a "small" car accident in 2013 due to a distraction while driving due to this crazy "ghost infotainment issue" on my vehicle. Mazda is aware of this issue and issued a service bulletin for 2014-2016 Mazda 3?s to have the screen fixed for no cost. What Mazda is waiting for to fix-make a recall and fix the issue at once? As outlined before this is a Manufacturer issue and they need to get accountable of this. Thanks in advance for your follow up and attention.

Mazda ships a defective touchscreen that will degrade and eventually register phantom inputs to the infotainment system. In my vehicle, the screen was able to randomly access my settings, including for safety (blind spot monitoring) and display (driving units, heads up display, etc) and start messing with my settings. When I was using maps, the screen would randomly zoom into different spots, or change my destination, or modify settings. This was an enormous distraction and rendered the screen useless. Also, I was never sure if I stopped the car from changing settings related to vehicle safety because I can't keep my eyes on the screen while I'm driving. It was just registering random inputs all over the screen while the vehicle was in motion.

There is a known -??ghost touch-?? issue with this vehicle. I did not realize that until recently but the infotainment screen will randomly activate when at low speeds and/or stopped. This has caused distractions while driving as sometimes it will actually initiate phone calls on its own. Mazda has a technical service bulletin on this but has issued no recall

Power folding mirrors do not fully close or extend during wet weather. This leaves the side mirrors visibility obstructed and could cause accident. This is a known issue and a recall should be immediately issued to remedy this dangerous defective part. Mazda technical service bulletin 09-011/20

There is a known issue with the infotainment systems of several makes/models within a certain date range of Mazda vehicles called Ghost Touch. It seems to mainly occur in very hot or cold weather. The touch screen will press different buttons on the screen on its own, which can be quite dangerous while driving: maps will start directing you to a different location, if you are on a call, it may put the person on hold or call another party. Music skips and pauses. It can cause extremely distracted driving (ie: trying to hang up on someone it has dialed on its own or switch directions back to the original address). Dealerships know about the issue but require a test to be done at the cost of the owner to prove the issue, and then they may or may not cover the cost of the fix. The touchscreen randomly turns off, has -??ghosting-?? where the touchscreen will do things on its own. Doing research I found this is a known issue with Mazda touchscreens and had a recall for 2013-2016 models. 2017+ models experience the same issues. This seems like a safety issue as many of the safety options and toggles are within the infotainment center.

The 2019 Mazda CX-5 has a design and manufacturing issue with its infotainment system. The screen activates functions without pressing the screen or activating the joystick. It changes the station, calls by phone and changes important security parameters such as braking assistance. Reflecting a notice on the main board. There are thousands of cases of affected vehicles. This problem is a serious situation that Mazda must correct immediately, because it distracts the driver and changes extremely important safety parameters. The infotainment system is not just for listening to music or making calls. This system manages many aspects of vehicle safety. Mazda replaced the part with a new part number for obvious reasons. All vehicles that have the affected part must be replaced with the new part number to avoid possible accidents. The defective part is K123-61-J0A. The replacement is K123-61-1J0C. UNKNOWN While stopping the radio system (which can not be powered off) will change and go to other apps. This causes the driver to take their eyes from the road and hand from the steering wheel to press buttons to get the radio system under control. When the radio does this it often goes to the settings and changes the navigation voice volume to the loudest it can go essentially frightening the driver and causing them to look away from the road and divert their attention to the radio system. This occurs every time the vehicle is driven and often occurs when hitting the brakes.

The screen in the middle of Mazda vehicle starts selecting menu, change the radio station or selects/plays whatever it likes. It suddenly activates some functions on its own. Most likely similar issue as in this document - https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10164268-0001.pdf This is dangerous for the driver as the automatic change in the screen and menu items distracts the driver which may cause accident and put life in danger. This is generic problem and searching on the internet, lot of people are suffering with this issue. When the issue started last year, we thought this is something random occurrence and will go away by itself but with the time, this has gone worse. Now looking in the internet we came to know this is actually an ongoing issue.

The Infotainment System has consistent "ghost touching". Not only is this a distraction while trying to drive it is changing the safety settings and display settings available in within the system such as ADAS settings and MPH\KMH speedometer options. Other less-severe options are consistently changed as well such as navigation volume etc. The problem is easy to reproduce, just need to start the car. I just paid $300 for a full replacement of the screen from Mazda, along with an update and the problem not only persists but is worse. The problem got progressively worse but there were no light indicators etc.

I was driving on the highway, at about 65 mph. The engine lost power and the car began to slow down. It did not respond to the accelerator, but the power was still on. I was lucky enough to be able to pull over to the shoulder without colliding, but it was extremely fortunate that no cars were obstructing me at the time. I put the car into park once stopped and turned the engine off. I tried to restart but the engine did not turn over and several warning signs came up on the dash and the car emitted irregular dinging/beeping noises before going silent (I do not recall specifically, but I believe the check engine and/or battery indicator lights came on) The hazards worked, also the interior lights. But I was stranded in a remote area in complete darkness on a very narrow shoulder with large trucks whizzing by. A CHP officer appeared eventually and expedited a tow truck, which brought me to the nearest Mazda dealership 100 miles away. It was midnight by the time we arrived. Both the tow truck driver and the technician (the next morning) were both unable to jumpstart the car. Engine would not turn over at all. The technician opened up the engine and sent reports to Mazda. We are waiting to hear back but they would not give me a loaner vehicle without knowing the cause of the failure. Very relieved I was not hurt but also very upset at the chance I could have been.

The contact owns a 2019 Mazda CX-5. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH with the accelerator pedal depressed and shifting from second to third gear, the engine revved up, hesitated, and lost motive power. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact also stated that the low-beam headlights were inoperable. There was a clunking noise detected while making a three-point turn. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the mechanic diagnosed that there was an electrical failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign number 19V497000 (Engine, Power Train). The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

Which resulted in the contact sustaining whiplash and sought medical treatment. The contact stated Brake warning message was displayed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. The VIN was not available.

The center infotainment system operates by itself when driving at a low speed. The screen will automatically enter menus, place calls, and select items without any sort of input from the driver or passenger (ghost touch). The control knob, which is used to navigate the center screen, will not be functional whenever this happens. This ghost touch issue happens periodically, sometimes it goes away and sometimes the problem returns. Whenever the screen places calls or enters menus by itself, the driver is being distracted from the road and will have to focus on canceling whatever action the infotainment automatically decided to do. For example, I use Apple CarPlay for navigation but sometimes the screen will operate other functions by itself - I will have to manually click back to the navigation screen every time. A similar issue was found in the 2014-2016 MY of the Mazda3, which uses the exact same infotainment and controller setup as in the CX-5 products.
