While deployed this past winter my wife heard a click on the engine compartment, upon my return I start it hearing it took it to the dealer and (terrible costumer service aside) they drop me with the news warranty expired 5 months ago while I was overseas. You cannot imagine my frustration. There is not even 60000 miles in the car. After a 6 weeks fighting with "Mazda costumer care" I have to paid to drive a great foreign car. Never again. I traded in a 2005 Ford Focus with over 1000000 miles and no issues to this piece of S%$#T. I am going back to AMERICAN Mazda kill it for me.

I bought my Mazda 2010 CX-7 in Oct 2013. The car had no noise indication of any problems and with each routine servicing there was no mention of any "noises". At the beginning of Oct 2014. I had a very subtle "rattle" noise that I could hear when the car would start. The car had no check engine lights on, and seemed to be running very well still. I drove my car to a Mazda dealership for a replacement key, and had one of the service guys listen to my car. I wanted to know if I should bring it in to be checked. He couldn't hear the rattle when I first started the car. I then restarted it again, and he thought that it might be something to do with the fuel uptake. He did not feel that it was something that I needed to have the car seen for immediately.

I did not have an official inspection of my car at that time. The "rattle" noise continued with each start up, and when it was idling. Less than 2 weeks later, I went to start my car and it wouldn't start. When I had it towed to the Mazda Dealership they did some compression testing and decided that my VVT had failed and had apparently busted ALL of my cylinders. Their only solution was to REPLACE the engine!!!! I did some research and there is a service "bulletin" for 2010 Mazda CX-7's for this exact problem, but the service bulletin states that it is for the CX-7's that were manufactured before Feb 26, 2010. My car was manufactured March 3rd, 2010 ---- LESS THAN 1 WEEK difference!!! Mazda feels that my car could not possibly be included in the problem because it is not in the affected VIN#'s .... That is total BS!!! My car has the EXACT same problem as the other cars that had the service bulletin and so it should be INCLUDED in the Servicing. Mazda then would not help out with the cost of the repair because there was no warranty on MY CAR.
