My vehicle had a previous recall done concerning the steering - recall #24V022000 of 2024-01-17. That corrected a problem I was having with a 'notchy' feeling in the steering when going down a relatively straight road. The problem I am having now with the steering is different and IMO is more dangerous of an issue. The problem is a notchy and "locked" feeling when the steering wheel is turned and kept at a required angle when going around a constant radius bend in the road. The specific problem is that when the steering wheel is required to be turned back to the center position after the road straightens, the wheel feels like it is almost locked in the turned position and sometimes returning the wheel to the center position results in an overcorrection which may cause the vehicle to cross over the centerline of the road and into the oncoming traffic. Interestingly, when I had my car into the dealer for a repair and was given another CX-90 as a loaner, the loaner exhibited the same issue. I brought this to the attention of the service manager and he basically ignored my concern. I will be making an appointment with the dealer in the near future and address this issue but I decided to report this issue because it looks to me like my vehicle is not the only vehicle with this potentially dangerous issue. I have been able to anticipate when this occurs but wonder if a less attentive driver would have a serious problem.

steering wheel locks into the direction of turning (sometimes more than needed for the corner) and causes over-steering at all speed (from 20mph to 45mph). at low speed the steering can be forced to turn back, but at higher speed such as onramp or offramp, after fighting the oversteering, the steering disengages for a brief second while fighting oversteering which I think can/will cause inexperience driver to turn the steering wheel too much in the opposite direction. also the lane departure/centering feature also causes the steering wheel to jiggle while driving straight (incorrectly trying to move the car while going stright). this is going to cause accident.

with lane-keep assist /lane-centering enabled, the steering will try to straighten the car while turning. experienced this during on-ramp and off-ramp of highway. this is super dangerous. even experienced it at low speed in the neighborhood. steering wheel will fight me during turn and disengage for brief second - this is very disconcerting while making a turn. even with lane-keep assist disabled, I can still feel the wheel (very minor feedback) trying to change course while turning. this issue began immediately after dealer performed all active recalls.

While driving (less than 2000 miles on the OD) in our 2024 cx90 SE the vehicle started to shift out of timing and everything shut off at once. The vehicle lost all power and all parts shut down. The vehicle would start back up and power steering went out. Our driving speed was at 30mph so it was extremely scary during rush hour traffic. We had to have it towed to the dealership, we're not sure what the issue will be.

Approximately six weeks ago, I began to notice the steering locking up ever so slightly as I made corrections in sweeping turns at 50 mph or so. In the beginning, I thought that it was road imperfections, but then it became more persistent and undeniable. Following this, it began to lock up more so when turning from a standing stop and accelerating, as when I was merging into traffic from my subdivision street. Some days, I notice it more than others. I was unnerved. I took the vehicle to the dealer, reported the concern, and was regarded as a purple squirrel. I was told that every update related to the steering had been completed and that there was nothing that they could or would do. The problem remained. With the concern remaining, I returned to the dealer and was told that someone else with the exact vehicle reported the problem the day before. Still, there was nothing that they could do as Mazda had not provided any guidance. I do not want to drive the vehicle. It is unsafe.

Mazda's Driver Personalization System is highly defective and properly recognizes a driver, at best, 40% of the time. Since multiple functions are tied to this system such as seat position, steering wheel position, infotainment presets, and a variety of other vehicle preferences, this not only causes an inconvenience issue but also a safety issue. The safety problem is that one has to stop the car, put it into Park, press through multiple menus and keystrokes just to change the setting to the correct driver.

On 12/09/23, my 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV, purchased on 11/11/23, just got out of the driveway to make a left turn around 500 feet from the driveway when there was resistance in turning the steering wheel left, causing vehicle to swerve to the right and hitting the fire hydrant on the side of the road located just around the corner. Both airbags deployed causing extensive damage to the passenger front side of the car. The automatic emergency braking did not engage to avoid collision with the fire hydrant. One of the passengers suffered avascular necrosis of the hip as a result of the accident. The vehicle was towed to a collision center, then towed to the Mazda dealership, but according to the dealership, no inspection report was available in their system as of 03/19/24. The insurance company declared the vehicle a total loss. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

In October 2023 I began to notice that the steering was not working properly. When driving I would notice that the steering would stick and require more force to turn. It would click while turning. I brought it to the tully mazda (nashua NH) who told me that others were experiencing the same but that there was no fix for this yet. On 12/27/23 I again notified tully of this issue and there was no fix for it. On 2/9/2024 I discussed again with tully who advised me that there was a recall to be announced shortly. They did not tell me that there was a safety issue driving the vehicle. On [XXX] while making a left turn (there are two side-by-side turn lanes and I was in the inside/left) i completed my turn and while straightening out the wheel the vehicle overcorrected hitting the vehicle to my immediate right. Queremos poner en evidencia el alto riesgo que padecemos con el vehiculo, entre [xxx] mi mujer Y yo ibamos en el automovil Y de repente SE freno por completo en medio de un puente que ES muy transitado Y causo una preocupacion Y mucho miedo porque no lo esperabamos Y afortunadamente no paso nada por que ibamos despacio exactamente 25 millas por hora Y porque el carro que venia atras de nosotros giro a la izquierda justo antes de nosotros perder el control del automovil que SE freno solo sin justificacion alguna no obstante adelante de nosotros no habia nigun automovil para que el automovil SE detuviera. Nota: Mi mujer SE encuentra en estado de embarazo Y no SE siente confiada en el automovil, tiene mucho miedo a la hora de usarlo. El problema ES aun mas grande porque dias antes del incidente el concesionario realizo un servicio de cambio de aceite Y servicio por un recall por los sensores del vehiculo, de lo cual solo hicieron cambio del aceite. Adicionalmente a esta informacion el vehiculo posee varios recall que no han sido solucionados por el concesionario, tenemos pruebas de los varios problemas que viene presentando el vehiculo. Adicionalmente hemos venido presentando dificultades con el servicio prestado en el concesionario de Mazda de lodi NJ codigo postal 07644, no han tenido voluntad en solucionar nuestro problema, hicimos la respectiva queja ante Mazda matriz Y solo nos dieron la opcion de llevar el vehiculo a revision, el cual fue revisado hoy [xxx] Y SE tardaron solo 1 hora para analizarlo Y decir que no tiene problemas el vehiculo. The major issue that happened to our newly purchased CX 90 last February 3 with more than 500 miles on it started around 5:30 pm of February 8, while my wife is driving this vehicle with my daughter, all of a sudden the car stopped at the middle of the road with warning signs popping up in the dash screen like I-active sense malfunction, hybrid battery malfunction, engine malfunction light on, and on top of these, critical vehicle malfunction. The car won't start and disabled. Also, the vehicle cannot switch to neutral gear to push/pull the vehicle to the side that made the vehicle blocking the roadway until the tow truck came in. My wife and daughter's life was put in danger when this vehicle suddenly stopped in the middle of the road with cars passing by on both ways. I also found out based on the NHTSA vehicle safety, Mazda recall website, carfax and Kelly blue book, that this particular vehicle with its VIN has a SAFETY RECALL due to its steering issue that may increase risk for crash. This was not disclosed to us when we are on the process purchasing this vehicle and they did state inspection and passed it that made we doubt how did it happened.. The vehicle is now with the dealership repair shop and the last update I receive was the technician is still checking on it.

The contact owns a 2024 Mazda CX-90. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V022000 (Steering) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

We called the dealer to have the recall taken care of. We were told that they were not sure if the part would be in in time for the date that they had set to do the fix. HOWEVER, the dealer also told us that we would be secondary to the fix vs their current on the lot inventory that they want to fix to sell! THEN, we will be able to have the required fix as there is availability of the part. Who should come first as this is a safety problem: The loyal customers that are actually out there driving the cars every day under the safety risk or cars sitting on the dealers lots waiting to be sold sometime down the road. Should an existing driver have an issue this would most certainly be a lawsuit. (We are on Facebook Mazda CX-90 North America website. It seems like the fix for this steering problem doesn't fix the issue) This is my second complaint with this vehicle. The first tracking number is: 11554525. NHTSA # 24V-022. (this complaint came as our car was at the dealership for 6 full weeks. They had to drop out the entire motor and transmission!). Pictures below uploaded. We also have been told that there will be several additional recalls to come. We are beyond frustrated with this whole process and car. These are two major problem i want to highlight, which need immediate attention One of them is related to steering wheel, which is a major safety concern for this vehicle to be on road. 1) Major safety concern- steering wheel Steering wheel is catchy when you are driving vehicle on high speed, which make this vehicle so difficult to control/ maneuver and struggling to keep this in a lane Steering wheel catchy means- it becomes hard when you steer and then skid before finally engaged. This makes driver nervous and can lead to an accident due to wavy drive 2) Engine malfunction light alert in instrumental cluster get on. This give you no choice whether to continue with vehicle. On Nov 23rd 2023, i was travelling with my family on [XXX] from ann arbor Michigan to columbus ohio and get stuck in highway due to this suddenly popped up Currently, vehicle is with germain mazda columbus and getting diagnosed. However, they confirmed some steering wheel motor problem and they are engaged with mazda corporate. The steering becomes -??sticky-?? at highway speeds. The wheel resists turning until sufficient force is applied, and then slips to a next setting or -??notch-??, where it further rests until force is applied. The effect is not particularly pronounced at low speeds but very noticeable at regular highway speeds (~60 mph). No great force is required to turn the wheel from one -??notch-?? to the next, but the resistance and continual need for readjusting course (because of the -??stuck-?? steering wheel) are fatiguing over time.
