CX9 Grand Touring 3.7 V6

Came to a stop light, and out of nowhere engine seemed to idle a little rough, then it seemed fine. It then seemed to want to jump forward (it was trying to accelerate, a little, with my foot only on the brake). I was able to get it off the main road and the engine completely died. Had it towed to the dealership and was told the water pump failed, it dumped coolant which mixed with the oil causing catastrophic engine damage, it jumped timing, and it needs a total engine replacement! Just over $10k! At this point that is the value of this vehicle! Thankfully, the extended warranty covered the bulk of that expense but we were still out of pocket $1,500. I loved my Mazda, until I discovered this is a known issues with multiple lawsuits pending against them for this awful engine design.

This happened in Oct. 2021. The engine was on backorder and with the shipping and port issues the engine was not at the dealership until February 2022. 4 months we waited for this vehicle!

Two days after getting the vehicle back, we drive it 2 hours away to see family and again we were left stranded roadside at night. (See my next review for that issue)

Now, once I get this vehicle back from the dealership, again, I am hoping to trading it in, and I am NOT getting another Mazda. They've broken my trust and my customer loyalty!
