Oct 302007

MAZDA3 GT GFX 2.3L

  • Automatic transmission

After nearly owning the car for 3 years and not driven in the winter, as I have a winter beater, always garaged. I noticed rust at the rear wheel wells and on a door inner seam.

Mazda will fix the problem. Years effected are 2004 to 2007 from what I can find on the internet. Many have had the problem fixed only to find the problem reappearing in some cases with in 6 months. Have not had mine fixed yet as there is a 6 year warranty limit, going to wait when the car is closer to that time frame. There are numerous complaints on the net at Mazda forums. Go to www.torontomazda3.ca and www.mazda3forums.com for more info, many photos etc. search rust

Rust proofing will not help as this is surface rust issue because of poor metal or poorly prepared surface before painting, also the paint is very thin and easily chipped and scratched. I think it is a common complaint with most manufactures?
