Lifted parking brake lever to engage parking brake, and it came up way further than normal without offering the normal resistance. After three attempts at resetting the brake, it engaged normally. Malfunction occurred again two days later, but this time, I could not get it to engage successfully even after multiple attempts. Dealer diagnosed that the brake lever assembly was intermittently sticking and replaced lever assembly. Two days later, same problem occurred again. Car is 9 months old, 13,500 mi.
