THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY AND SPORADICALLY SPEED UP AND THE RPMS INCREASE UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN THE CLUTCH IS RELEASED AFTER DOWNSHIFTING FROM 3RD TO 2ND OR 4TH TO 3RD. MOSTLY FROM 3RD TO 2ND. THE VEHICLE REALLY PULLS FORWARD AND DOES NOT SLOW DOWN WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING. INSTINCT IS TO JUMP THE BRAKE, WHICH SLOWS THE CAR, DECREASES THE RPMS AND APPEARS TO STOP THE INCIDENT. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY WITH SNOWY, ICY ROADS JUST AROUND THE CORNER. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE THIS AS IT IS SPORADIC. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE FIRST DRIVING THIS VEHICLE JUNE, 02, 2012.

This is the exact same issue as previously listed on this site. My 2012 Mazda 3 GS-SKY 6MT will surge forward (accelerate) on a downshift from 4th to 3rd, or more commonly 3rd - 2nd gear. The RPM's will burst up, and the car will physically accelerate forward without my foot on the gas pedal. While this issue is very intermittent, it has happened to me at least 40 times since I purchased the car brand new in October. Mazda Canada so far has done some tests and they haven't found anything. I am not sure what my next steps are, but I am getting the feeling that Mazda Canada is not going to step up and cover this important safety issue when the time comes to make a decision about whether to keep testing the car or not. They have already dismissed another case of this issue saying that the symptoms can't be replicated, and therefore they can not fix this issue. Mazda should care more when it is a serious safety issue involved, especially when intermittent issues arise that can catch the driver off guard.
