I have always taken really good care of my cars because I like to feel safe when I drive. My Mazda 3 2013 Hatchback is not the exception, I bring it in to the dealership for all required maintenance. I know my car really well that is why I noticed right away when the engine started to lose power. I happened about a month after the regular scheduled maintenance. Literally, I have to floor the accelerator to get to 60 mph, something that is really annoying, especially for a newer car. After this problem started I have noticed that the engine burns more gas than it used to. I find myself at the pump more often now. Unfortunately this is the only car that I have and I wish I could just bring it in for a check up to Putnam Mazda in Burlingame so they can take a look at it, but they are booked for almost a week and a half, and if I want to bring it on a weekend I would have to wait almost one month.
Update from Sep 18, 2015: First problem that I had with this vehicle was the navigation system. I would enter the destination address and as I was on my way to the place the screen would freeze or there would be an error saying that the connection was lost. Now, this can be a serious problem if you are in a rush to get to your destination since you most likely will get lost. The other problem is that you could get into an accident if you pay too much attention to the navigation screen. I had to bring it to the dealer where they did an update and replace a defective part. It took them about two weeks to give me my car back but I haven't sad any problems since then

I purchased a Brand New 2013 Mazda3, the car is not even a year old, 5100 miles on it. Driving my son to school I pressed on the gas pedal and the RPM hit between 5/6 and the speedometer just sat at 30mph. The car wouldn't move, my first thought OMG, someone is going to ram into the back of me, so I pulled over at the shoulder.
Shut off the car gave it a minute and re-started, proceeded to go and the car kicked in and bucked forward then drove steady. On the way the car did not feel right whatsoever, no dash warning light at all. Got to work and the car sat for 8 hours, as soon as I started it up, the dash read, engine light, AT light and another I think it was traction. Called Mazda, brought it in and now I'm waiting to hear what is wrong with the car.
I'm so pissed, I understand it's just a machine, but this is why I purchased a new car, I have a 1991 Camaro, so that I wouldn't have any problems, I'm a single Mom and rely on my vehicle to make a living. Then to top it off Mazda gave me a loaner, smells like dead bodies were left inside, horrible, and they have the nerve to say if you smoke in the car we charge you $250.00. So, maybe I should say, if I find one more scratch on my car from your guys who work on it I'm gonna charge you a new paint job? Right now, I'm thinking "what the hell were you thinking and should have went with a new Camaro!
I'll let you know the outcome of the car problems as soon as Mazda gets back to me, whenever that is!

I had the exact same issue as Benita "I purchased a Brand New 2013 Mazda3, the car is not even a year old, 5100 miles on it. Driving my son to school I pressed on the gas pedal and the RPM hit between 5/6 and the speedometer just sat at 30mph.

but when I finished getting home and turned off the car then turned it back on the only light that came on was the check engine light and then the next day I was going to bring it into mazda but the check engine light was off and they said they wouldnt be able to pull any codes from it. I never experienced the problem again. The only thing unique about that day was that it was pretty cold and I was in a hurry to get home so I pulled out rather quickly but thats really about it.
