Had the same problem with a 2014 Mazda CX5. I was assured by my salesman that the newer Mazda 3 had all the new updates and there would not be any problems with the Bluetooth in this one. I did not have it 2 days before it had the same, if not worse, problems as the CX5. I went online to find out that everyone has issues with the Mazda Bluetooth across all the model line-up.
Mazda is supposed to be working on a fix for the software, but it is not right for the sales staff to not inform customers of the issue.

The MazdaConnect system is one of the worst car infotainment systems I have ever had in a vehicle. It takes a solid 1-2 minutes to load everything after starting the engine, it's glitchy, its slower than a budget laptop from 2003, and it's completely crashed and reset itself more than once while driving. Sometimes it refuses to connect to my Bluetooth phone, giving a very nondescript error being fixed only by restarting my phone and completely shutting off the car and starting it again. I am very tempted to spend the cost to replace this system with an aftermarket radio solution, because the Mazda unit is almost unusable.
