The first thing to happen was the navigation system started going all over the place, and made beep-beep, beep, beep, beep, beep-beep-beep-beep, etc noises, constantly. The first time it happened, it scared me, and I tried to stop the constant beeps (which took my attention away from driving), but could not. Then the radio would start changing stations and settings, or the music on the thumb drive would randomly change songs in the middle of another song, etc. Then I noticed that the infotainment center would try to change the settings in my favorites list, or change settings in the Settings menu. Then, it would start calling people randomly from my contact list on my phone - even people I have in my address book but have never called.
I noticed this phantom behavior would happen when I slowed down, like when coming to a stop, and when I tried to do anything to stop it, I could do absolutely NOTHING. The touchscreen and the dial were non-responsive. When I started driving again, after going above about 10 miles per hour, things were normal. I researched this online, and there are many, many other people having this same problem, but it is my understanding that Mazda won't acknowledge the problem. It is a safety issue, in my opinion, in that it is extremely distracting and frustrating to try to drive with all of this beeping and erratic display and unauthorized phone calling is going on. It has happened on the freeway when the traffic is heavy, and I have had several close calls while trying to somehow stop the unwanted behaviour.

5 updates so far. I'm loosing features and it's operation is now much slower and I'm still getting crashes. That's BS for a $30,000 car!!!!
No new update to get now. Mazda already claiming a new system is in place for 2016. I hope those that purchased the 2014 don't get screwed.

Many people have this same problem in various Mazda models, and cars of all ages. They will happily replace the part until you get out of warranty, then charge over $1,100 for the fix. The part is crap and they know it. Their chip supplier sucks and they don't care.
Update from Aug 22, 2021: Do an internet search and you'll find plenty of people trying to help others with this same problem. Most common is going into the diagnostic system, which you cannot do when your useless "infotainment system" is in a state of constant reboot.
