I have Mazda 5 2012 1.6 diesel bought from dealership in June 2016. Serviced every 6 months and no problems till today. Not serviced by dealership as I live 60 miles from the nearest, but mechanic is very good and reliable. Before last service 3 weeks ago I called dealership to inquire about when timing belt needs to be changed. They told me that Mazda recommend every 10 years or after 200,000kms. My car is 6 years old with 113,000 on clock, so I was glad not to have to worry about it for a while. Yesterday while driving on busy motorway timing belt gave out. Car stopped dead. I have been on to dealership where I bought it. They passed me on to Mazda Ireland who advised taking it to nearest dealership but gave no commitment as to footing cost of repairs. I am now wondering what I can do and if this is a problem others have experienced? Would be glad to hear of any experiences or advice. PS there was no noise or any indication of trouble before warning light came on and car stopped 15 seconds later.
