I noticed that my clutch pedal assembly was a bit shaky AFTER replacing my shifter cable, clutch slave cylinder, and bypassing the neutral safety switch. After reading a couple Mazda 6 forums, I found that my 6 wasn't the only car with the issue; Mazdaspeed 6 and rx8 owners(later warrantied). I was lucky to know a guy that had used Mazda 6 parts with low miles. I only paid $55 for the like new pedal assembly. I had planned to get the old one welded before the replacement part fails. So far this one is still doing the job, after about 3 years of use.

I've had this car for 5 or 6 years now and I've gone through 2 clutch pedal assembly's. There is no reason for this, I've driven standards all my life and never have i come across such a cheaply made pedal. the first time this happened i went to a dealer to show them and they acted as if they had never seen this happen nor had they heard about it in the history of cars! both assembly's broke in the same way in the same weld spots and when i did some research on line i found that i'm no where near the only one who's had this problem ALL THE BREAKAGES WERE EXACTLY THE SAME. i used a mig welder to weld the first one back together but it only lasted a year or so, because by the time i tried to fix it the pedal was too far gone (actually broken in to 2 pieces) so i broke down and bought a new one from the dealer for $110. the brand spanking new pedal lasted around a year, year and a half before showing signs of breaking AGAIN but because i knew what i was looking for i caught it before it broke in 2 and welded the cracks closed. the weld lasted longer than the new pedal did but now those welds are breaking. so here i am again having to buy a new pedal and the dealer is telling me that the price has gone up and is now $130 to buy one (WTF!!).

Because of the way it breaks this tells me that either the return spring is too strong or that the 2 yes count them 2 points in which the pedal is held to the inside of the firewall aren't enough and a 3rd should have been added to avoid unnecessary stress on the metal. from what I've read a lot of other models are notorious for this as well. SO MAZDA WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO???? nothing probably because you wont even recognize it as a problem. I contacted Mazda North America and they also acted as if this never happens they filed a complaint claim or something gave me some long number to refer to and told me good luck and have a nice day. WOW what service. could have easily said here is a new pedal sorry for the inconvenience, or hey well comp the diagnoses at the dealership just take it in and we'll take care of our inferior part problem, but no, sorry have a nice day. well thanks mazda thanks a bunch.
