I purchased this vehicle used 2 years ago used with an extended warranty. Check engine light came on and I immediately took the car in to Mazda. At this point the car was still under extended warranty. The code that ran was for the transmission. They cleared the code and ran it again, this time nothing. They refused to do any work on the transmission especially flushing it. 3 weeks later the check engine light comes on again.
Took it to Autozone. This time the code ran as camshaft phaser needing to be replaced. Drove from Autozone to pick up my children from school. On the way home my car wouldn't shift into gears. I was on the highway with two little ones. Kept it below 30mph and made it home safely. Had car towed, replaced the camshaft phaser. Too late. Pistons don't work. Had to replace the engine out of my pocket. $3000.00 later.
I am completely devastated and can't comprehend a single mother of two having to come up with this kind of money. I feel like I was taken advantage of when I purchased this vehicle. Not to mention I am upside down because the value of the car is way less than what I owe/charged. Thanks for that Mazda. I should have done my research. I am woman, they saw me coming from a distance. I am stuck with a pos car for 2 years. Had to replace an axle boot, window parts because the passenger side widow kept slipping. After Mazda charged me my $100.00(deductible) TWICE for them to fix. Yes it took 2 times going in. The window still rattles but goes up and down. Imagine that. I will never purchase a Mazda again.

For no apparent reason my Mazda 6 engine started knocking as if it had no oil at all. It had oil but was one quart low, then I learned that a valve went out and that the engine was starved of oil briefly and that caused bearings to be thrown out. The valve is a PCV valve and it is a $10.00 part that has ruined many engines, according to the web and posting of Mazda owners there.
When I saw the postings and the number of people prior to me that have had this happen and to see the complaints on a door hinge be recalled and not the part that is devastating the lives of others having their only transportation ripped from them with no warning, with a $3, 000. repair bill or a $13, 000 debt on a pile of junk, this guarantees I will NEVER purchase a Mazda again. Thanks for nothing Mazda.

My 2009 v6 at just over 100,000 miles sadly had the unforgettable act of the water pump failing like others have mentioned and completely ruining the engine. I was quoted at $2,399 for a repair which of course I couldn't afford at the time. So I was forced into abandoning my mazda 6.
