MAZDA6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 46,000 miles

When I try to shut off my Mazda 6 by parking the car and pushing the ignition button, the car does not fully shut down. The amber color light at the top of the ignition button stays on, there is a repetitive beeping noise when you open the door and you can't lock the door. Typically just repeatedly pushing my foot on the brake and turning the car back on and then off again, does not work. I find if I turn the car on, reverse down the driveway and then park the car again...it MIGHT turn all the way off. Sometimes, I have to drive the car around the block and repeat parking/turning off car and it will work. It does not happen all the time. I never know when it's going to happen. Very frustrating when I have to be at an appointment or work and it happens when I park and try to leave the car. The battery will go dead if the amber light stays on and I leave the car for a considerable amount of time. Sometimes it goes away for long enough to fool me into thinking the problem is gone, then ...here it is again!

MAZDA6 Grand Touring 2.5L Skyactive

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

I love this car... this problem is just annoying. The parts department said it wasn't the part I asked for, that I would have to take it to the dealer. I have seen a number of complaints about this same issue - perhaps they should have a recall??!!!

MAZDA6 Grand Touring 2.5L 4-cyl

Car would not shut off because the park switch bad. It's a common problem with this car, the rubberized plastic switch wears out, but you or any handyman can fix with these instruction:

Stop Park switch replacement:

MAZDA6 Series V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,222 miles

I'm very frustrated. This is my first Mazda car and not very happy with it. Will never purchase again. When pressing the start/stop button, the ignition is not turning off. It made me late for work and appointments many times trying to turn it off and it's a shame how people looks at you when your car is parked and you try to turn off then turn off again several times. I even drove it around just to keep it going then turn on and off again. Although the shift lever is in Park position and the engine shuts off normally, the radio and ignition are staying. I've read several complaints with the same issues that I have including other mechanical problems with the Mazda 6 (2014). I only have 55,000 mileage on it and why in the world it's already causing so many mechanical problems and has a worn shifter switch unit. Mazda should recall or cover the expense to repair or fix this issue
