The contact owns a 2010 Mazda speed 3. while driving 10 mph, there was a screeching noise coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the noise sounded like two pieces of metal scraping against each other. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel tank internal baffle was detached and was rubbing against the inside of the fuel tank. The contact was concerned that the failure could spark a flame inside the fuel tank. The manufacturer was not notified and no repairs were made. The failure mileage was 60,300.
