The contact owns a 2001 Mazda MPV. The contact stated that a local mechanic performed routine maintenance on the vehicle and stated that the brakes never functioned properly. The recall repair, 01V382000 (service brakes, hydraulic: Foundation components: Hoses, lines/piping, and fittings) was related to the failure. The dealer did confirm that the recall repair had not been performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 125,000.
