Idle Air Control valve is easy to swap out as there are only two bolts. Relatively cheap, but be careful which one you buy to replace as you may have the problem reoccur. Also, PCV valve is poorly designed and causes similar problem as above. The hose is in the rear of the engine next to the firewall and is very difficult to access given this is front-wheel drive (Pain in the ass).

My 2005 Marzda would shut down for unknown reasons. Today it cut out five times in local traffic. I had investigated the problem earlier and someone had recomended that the problem could be from the IAC, on carcomplaints.com, they showed the part that needed to be cleaned. They marked it in red. I found the part easily and cleaned it with Q-Tips, as recommended. Took it for a spin on the highway in heavy traffic, no problems, usually stops. Returned on the back roads in medium traffic and had no problems. Earlier this A.M. I drove about an hour. After the cleaning I drove about an hour and a half and had no problem. Hopefully It was only a dirty IAC. I have spent a great deal of money on regular maintenance, Had my wires replaced twice. Thank-You for this site. In the future I will definately look for the problem and perhaps the remedy Thank-You again Georgiana Fleming.

When I go around corners or slow down at stop lights/signs the rpm's drop and engine stalls. I had an extended warranty on it up to 100,000 miles and brought it in several times to be checked out. They replaced 3 of the o2 sensors, but still it's not fixed. Now my warranty is up. I live in a rural town, 20 miles from the nearest bigger town and I can't even drive there.

This happened while I was looping around an exit on the highway once. Very scary experience! It happens when I slow down for a stop light. It didn't start happening until after the mileage went over 60K. It happens mostly when the AC is on full blast but it has happened with it off completely. My husband works with Mazdas every day and has never heard of any recalls that might cause this nor does he know why it's doing this. His boss drives the same vehicle at work, same year, almost same mileage and it has been doing the same thing to him. We've both tried fuel injector cleaner... doesn't help. I had a person honk at me today when the light turned green at an intersection while I was putting it in neutral to restart it. I'm at my wits end with this!!!!!

I have a 2005 Mazda Mpv with 126k miles on it. Me and my wife bought this brand new right off the dealership lot. This has been a good vehicle for the most part until 2014 when the airflow system on the engine decided to not work like it should. What happens is when I rev up the rpms and let off the gas it kills the car completely. I have had this stall on me many times in traffic and driving down mountain roads. I have read many horror stories about the same problem with no recalls. I have taken this in several times with temporary fixes but never truly fixing the issue as the vehicle will still stall out even with new hoses and sensors, frustrating....
