I first noticed my floor under my driver's seat was wet back in October 2013. I took it to a Mazda Dealer but was told that it would cost me over $700 to fix the problem. I was told that the drain system was probably backed up with debris thus causing the water to back up in the car.
It seemed to happen each time a hard rain comes but never as bad as when I arrived home yesterday 6/9/14 to find this. I have checked forums on the internet to find out that this is a reoccurring problem with these convertibles.
My ISSUE is that this seems like a manufacture defect or problem that would qualify as a recall. It is not only unsanitary, but also my concern is if the water continues to drain inside my car the bottom of the car will begin to rust undoubtedly thus causing major future issues that could cause a serious injury or even death. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS! I don't feel that after paying for an expensive sports car, something like this that can be handled immediately should be left to the owner to have to pay out of pocket. I am calling on all MAZDA MX-5 owners who are having this problem to voice your concerns and complaints as well. This is just WRONG that I cannot get any resolution on this problem!
