There is a current recall for many MB's in that an unprotected radiator is a current design flaw as it is susceptible to road hazard damage. Intervention has been taken to install a retrofit radiator chip guard after extreme loss has occurred on many MB models. Among the affected models are the AMG E43 and AMG E63. I happen to own an AMG E53 and when this problem occurred in my vehicle the dealer called it "an act of God", did NOT inform me of exactly the same problem in models almost identical to mine for which an active recall has been established. They have required me to pay out-of-pocket for all parts and labor with no assurances as to how this problem will be prevented from recurring.
