The contact owns a 2000 Mercedes Benz C230 N/a. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled and was no longer operable. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the spring coil had fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 290,000. Updated 06/30/16 updated 08/17/16

Driving to work at 3:45 a.M. (eastern time) my car felt like it hit something in the road I pulled over to examin the vehicle. I couldn't see anything until I got to work when it was more light out. I removed the wheel and found the coil spring tower had ripped almost completely off"??" I noticed rust and no other damage to the undercarriage less the shock that go hit by the spring. This has to be a recall or some manufacture tsb. The car is super clean has 157,000 on the clock. I inspected the other wheels they appear ok it's the passenger side front.

I had just exited the freeway, and slowing down for a stop light when I heard a loud crack. The front drivers side coil spring socket that connects to the unibody had rusted and broke, dropping the suspension on top the tire. I took the car to the Mercedes dealership, and they told me that the right passenger side coil socket was rusted as well. The dealership also mentioned that it's a common problem but Mercedes had yet to address the issue.
