If you think you are getting a quality German product, think again. Because the valve springs were under engineered, carbon built up to the point that the exhaust valves no longer seat properly. The only permanent fix is to spend about $5,000 getting a new engine head, valves and of course a whole new and stronger set of valve springs. This is much more common than MBZ cares to admit. A few mechanics I spoke with say that they have gone through more than a few engine rebuilds.
