I have a 2001 Mercedes-Benz C240 bought new and only maintained by the dealer. The paint on the lower edge of the front passenger side door looked like bubbling rust. Actually it was only was peeling off from the panel. The dealer said it was out of warranty. I used a utility knife to scrape off 1/2 inch stripes of paint that was separated from the metal. Then I used Mercedes touch up paint to re-paint the peeled off area. I am very disappointed that a modern day Mercedes has such poor paint quality.
