C250 Sport Coupe V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,500 miles

Our family have purchased from Plano TX, MB Dealer cars since the earliest 2000 (6 MBZ ). The Service consultant has confirmed the known issue "The Red Mars paint" for my 2013 C250 sport coupe with only 25,500, miles. Service Consultant entered and forward the repair report to the Car Dealership's body and paint shop with car paint bubbles under the clear coating pictures. The Service Consultant called me a few days later to tell me that my request was denied but he did not get a reason for the denial.

I had to conference MBZ Corporate customer service with the Service Consultant to get why my claim was denied, finally the Consultant mentioned my car warranty has expired. The corporate customer service requested the service consultant to provide me with a estimate for the repaint work and mentioned that she will forward/escalate my request to an associate for further investigation and its not guarantee solution but further investigation is needed.

After a week, I still waiting for the car repaint estimate/quote so I could provide to MBZ customer service. I am very frustrated and disappointed to experience such as poor support by a well known MBZ Dealership in Plano TX to a loyal customer for many years. I requested to have an appointment with the Dealership owner/management representative to further discuss my poor experience support but I was told the person is out of the country, I will follow up on the first week of Nov 2018.

At this time I am waiting for the car repaint estimate/quote to move forward as instructed by MBZ corporate customer service. I will update this entry with the MBZ Dealership and MBZ Corporate findings.

Update from Dec 11, 2018: Tuesday 12/11, We have provided the Dealer Body shop repaint quote of almost $10,000 to the Dealer and Corporate back in Early November 2018 and still waiting a response back from either parties. The Dealer General Manager has mentioned early November, that the Dealer will only assist me in pass the Repaint quote to Corporate (Which we already have done it) as this issue is due to a Manufacture defect. I being calling the Corporate office with my case for the past month and keep getting same response, "case is being worked and there is no feedback from the Dealer" At this time is a waiting issue, and no one can answer a simple question, why Plano Dealership sells pre-owned Vehicles with known Red Mars paint issues? As it was mentioned this type of Vehicles are tracked with VIN # and yes my Car VIN # is included on the " Red Mars Paint Issues List" . In the mean time, I will contact BBB for advise and find out if my case could be reported if no solution is reached.

Update from Mar 28, 2019: March 28th 2019, after many tries to contact the Plano Mercedes Dealership without luck, Dealership has chosen to reject my request and I was not able to resolve my critical issue. After such as bad experiences with the Plano Mercedes Dealership, I finally decided to move forward with my issue. I do not recommend the Plano Mercedes Dealership for any type of Business due to Dishonest practices, poor customer issues Handling ways, selling pre-owned cars with known issues.

C250 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 33,000 miles

Started to notice clear coat peeling on front hood about a month ago. Over the past month, more and more spots are appearing, as well as the entire car color starting to change and oxidize. Brought the car to the MB dealer (we have purchased 5 from them since 2004) and they had a paint analyst check it out. Since the car was 3 months out of warranty, they couldn't do anything, although he did notice the peeling. I then complained to MB Corporate, who did an investigation, and said there was nothing they could do and it looked like it was environmental issues. All of my MB's have been kept outside and none except this one, has had any problem. I had one for 8 years and the paint was as good as new!

MB corporate said there was nothing they could do, but if we decided to trade it in, the would give me a $1500 discount on top of the dealer's discounts. I asked for an arbitration on this matter and after 3 attempts, have not heard from them. In the meantime, the paint is getting worse and the color change is become more pronounced.

Very disapointed with MB's response, both the dealer and corporate. It seems that the only thing to do is repaint the entire car. Not exactly what you want to do on a 4 year old car.
